Rust spots to look out for! Front strut top mount inside the wheel archs and inside the engine bay. Common mot failure. Rear arch's. If the mud hasn't been clean out of the lip on the rear arch they tend to rot from inbetween the two bits of metal. Rear Strut top mounts. Take the strut top mount cover off in the boot and shine a light in and check for rust. Rear sill are very common to find on a yaris. Lastly. Where the rear axle connects to the body of the car look for stress fractures and cracks near the mounting point. This might have been just my yaris but it is defos worth a look. Leaks to look out for. Look out for swimming pools in the boot and foot well floors. Rear light seals are bad for going on yaris which can run water in the wheel well in the boot. Passengers foot wells can have water leaking from the AC condetor drain tube and the sunroof drains. They could be blocked or have feel out of there drain holes. Lift the foot matts up and press furmly on the carpet below. The drivers foot well could be wet because of the sunroof drains. If you are unluckly like me you may also have a leak coming from the scuttle that isn't easy to acsess. But I only seem to the one person that has this problem. ARB drop links are very common for going and being a mot fail. These are cheap to replace but you might as well get a set of ploys in so they last a lot longer. If I think of anymore I'll add to it.

Only rust issue i've got on my 2002 2NZ-FE is rear arch, just a little,as i spray WD-40 everywhere on my car,EVERYWHERE 2x a year.I use 2x big cans and that does everything i do.engine bay and underneath is zero rust, very good and neat condition.

Great stuff mate! Two more points to look out for are water in the boot as the rear light seals are prone for leaking and the rear sills do tend to rust on higher mileage or older models.

Use Magnatec 5W-30 and it'll be quiet as a church mouse (Top tip) :) My hand brake never comes up high like that, and i've owned a 2002 Yaris 1.3L 2NZ-FE for 13 yrs now, only ever failed on wiper blades! Got a recent advisory on both sides of the anti-roll bar bush's/links. I used Forte engine flush and fuel cleaner back in 2009,drove with it in 15mins on my way home from work (Not suppose to!) 10 mins later,it idled really rough for 5 secs, then was perfectly fine! It then drove sweet as a nut!! Really quick throttle response,it was much better/noticable.But i got this Forte at a garage i worked at,it's not available to the public unless you wanted a service with it (Promotion) cost me like £43 for both bottles....well worth it.11 yrs later on,it still drives smooth as a nut, with Magnatec 5W-30,it's smooth, quiet and quick for a 1.3L Auto lol Only ever done the front pads, mid and back exhaust, plus the aux belts.....that's it! Brake pads by Brembo £26,mid & back exhaust £75 from ebay, both fitted myself.Aux belts at garage approx £100 parts, labour and Vat,had brake fluid changed 3 yrs ago and got 2 tyres fitted, unsure of price as i did an MOT too.Underneath is very good,v.little rust,no bad rust at all,as 2x a year i spray everywhere with WD-40....EVERYWHERE.

One important thing to check before you buy is the boot floor. Water leaking into the boot is very common on old Yaris's. It can come from around the rear light clusters and/or from the rubber boot over the wiper wiring between the body and the tailgate. Its easy to cure IF you know its happening but you can easily miss the initial signs and then one day you discover that your spare wheel well is half full of water.

Picked one of these up recently (I also see you on the facebook groups btw). Nice little cars! One thing though they come with 185/55/15 as standard, 195/50/15 is seen as the recommended tyre upgrade on stock wheels. Gonna be grabbing a full set of 195/50 tyres for mine soon though and a nice set of tein springs like the ones on yours. Keep up the vids anyway, especially Yaris ones and the little car meet/show visits! :)

Is there just a blank space whrere the TRC Button supposed to be ? I bought a T Sport last week, facelift, and if i drive it on the limit, its beeps and flashes a little Symbol above the TRC Off at the istrument cluster. Please dont say it was optional and i got one with VSC.... thats not able to turn off..

I've never heard of that mate. You sure yours isnt a Vitz and not a Yaris. Maybe it's something that comes on a Vitz as I've never known it to come on a Yaris

@@ZGVlogs Its a Yaris, German Car. I wathced a video from a franchman, he also has a blank space beside the Mirror adjustment, in my car there is a TRC Button, but if i push it, it shows TRC off at the instrument cluster, but if i get understeer oder oversteer, a little car with lines(like EPS symbol) is flashing above the TRC off and it beeps, as far as is feel the car is cuttung power. Im really suprised that some cars have it and some cars dont, maybe it was a option back then. I think i need to find its ECU and "modify" it a bit. Now i have fittet semi slick tires and everything and the car will decide where the limite is fml -.- ;)
