Shen Wei actor's eyes, it's so expressive,. you can actually see what he feels,. it's so full of emotions I'm always moved watching his scenes,. and their combination makes it all more perfect,.

I could drown in ShenWei's eyes. This actor is magical. My best discovery

Shen Wei's line ("I lost a loved one") is actually more cryptic in the original dialogue. In fact he doesn't use the term "loved one", he litterally says "I lost him once, + I can't go through the pain of losing him again blabla" but the "him" is not even mentioned (via a morphological marker), it's infered by grammar/context. He could have used the verb 输 (to lose) but instead he used the verb 失去 which also means "to lose" but unlike the other verb usually requires a direct object (it/him/her) to function. In context it makes more sense he's referring to a "him" rather than a "it", hence the romantic interpretation. The first time the term "loved one" (情人/爱情人) is actually used is during episode 11: at the beginning when YunLan says that if anyone ever killed his loved one he'll lose everything and go full murder mode on everyone lol (very satisfying moment where Shen Wei agrees and they both lowkey look at each other), and then a second time mid-episode when Shen Wei's identity is revealed and YunLan is wondering why he's wasting his time on earth (his colleague then jokes that maybe he's here to be with his lover). There's also this scene where Ge Lan begs Shen Wei to use his powers to save her lover, and because her situation is so similar to his situation when he lost YunLan/Kun Lun in the past, he sympathizes with her and saves him all the while looking at YunLan with teary eyes (this has nothing to do with my argument but I just wanted to share that moment because it was SO OBVIOUSLY romantic). Anyways, can more proficient chinese speakers confirm this? Also, I just remembered another scene where a different endearing term is used: it's in the same episode when Ge Lan and her lover are reunited and the whole team is trying to get out of the cave. There's talk about what to do with Ge Lan's lover now that he has a human form and Shen Wei (as a way to support the two lovers being together) proceeds to describe how strong Ge Lan and her lover's relationship is: "They've got a hold of each other, life and death can't separate them blabla". His description is so surprising (coming from him) that everybody understands (in shock) that he is, in fact, talking about himself and projecting his own feelings, to the point where YunLan openly asks him if he has a 牵挂之人 (literally: someone he cares/worry about). The important thing to note in this scene is that Shen Wei's description is actually another cryptic love confession. The subber for the episode (much respect to that person!) translated it as "They've got a hold of each other", and because it was a very difficult (as in, poetic/abstract) sentence, I think it's a correct translation. But if we analyse the sentence structure we note that the figurative expression 心尖 is used, which means that if we're really picky the sentence could also be translated as "They hold each other's heart/deepest feelings". So here it is you guys: Shen Wei just admitted that his relationship with YunLan is true LOVE and not bromance ❤

i'm always sceptical about chinese bl drama because most of the times the actors fail to portray their 'hidden' feelings for each other. however, in the case of guardian their depiction is beautiful and i'm so glad i decided to watch this series. they are indeed soulmates and you don't even need to question that because their action speaks louder than words.

i finished watching the drama, and can i say this fed me more than any BL drama that had smut in it, the connection between yunlan and wei is so filling. BL doesnt need kissing, hugging or sex scene to make it good, the love they have for each other through the care, looks and words is enough. this is a drama that i will definitely come back to.

Every scene between them is so touching and intimate .... i love how Shen Wei watches sleeping Zhao and puts his hand under the blanket or covers him with his jacket.. I am also waiting for more scenes from their past, the preview left me speechless. Your video is beautiful!

I’m so fucking happy to see people acknowledging the fact that THIS IS actually BL. All these reviews say it’s just bromance because they don’t kiss or because the characters don’t say “ILY” directly. But, honestly, with the Chinese gay ban on media, what did you expect?? Obviously y’all weren’t getting all the Thai drama smut action but the producers did their best to bring the story to us while still maintaining the original vibe of the novel. Anyway I’ve seen the subbed episodes so far and half of the time there’s so much fucking testosterone-tension between these gays that it satisfies you even without lip contact. Most of the dialogue and scenes are also hella gay like I was surprised at how much they got away with. Plus the storyline isn’t just like the crust of a pizza that not everyone eats but needs so their cheese and sauce don’t fall apart. I’m saying the plot itself is actually good and to not let the word “bromance” fool you or sway you from watching it because I’ve stopped watching so many dramas after seeing that word and I’ve probably missed out on some hella good ones, although it’s a good way to filter your dramas too. Anyway that’s my little rant/preach session.

I've been a BL fan for a while now, and I have to say, that this is actually the best BL I've ever watched, because to me, it is the PERFECT portrayal of an asexual love/romance. They don't kiss, they don't jump into bed together, but they touch, clutch, and in every little action speak profoundly of their love for each other. That is why this will always be my favorite. And you took and highlighted that love so perfectly, that I will even go so far as to say that this is the best FMV I have ever seen, too. Although this drama aired a year ago, and I just finished watch it all of the episodes 2 days ago. I realized that I COULD NOT moved on from this pain 😭 saw the emotional feeling between them, the expressions, etc plus the ending theme song "just care too much" made my tears always dropped out from my eyes. I know the Chinese have the ban...they have it on the sexual part. The SCRIPT writers remove the sexual things because they had to, not because they wanted to. They keep the lines. The dialogues don't change. There are somethings that men don't say to each other like that -- even in Bromances. I know some of my friends who have Bromances that I question and even they don't go that far.
