From October 2022 to September 2023, the defendant Li* used the Weibo account involved in the case to publicly publish multiple blog posts targeting Ms. Zhao Liying, all of which were derogatory to Ms. Zhao Liying, seriously infringing Ms. Zhao Liying's right to reputation. After trial, the court held that: Li* posted or forwarded defamatory and insulting remarks against Zhao Liying through Weibo in the past year, which triggered other netizens to read, which obviously caused Zhao Liying's social evaluation to decline and reputation to be damaged, seriously violating the socialist core values of civilization and harmony. Li*'s subjective fault was obvious, and this behavior was an infringement of Zhao Liying's reputation rights, and he should bear the tort liability according to law.
On April 23, 2024, the court pronounced the first instance: the defendant Li* shall publicly apologize to the plaintiff Zhao Liying through Weibo within ten days from the date of the effective date of the judgment, and the release period shall last for no less than 30 days from the date of the external release; and compensate the plaintiff Zhao Liying for the corresponding mental damage consolation money and reasonable rights protection expenses totaling 55,000 yuan.
