Both you and Emily, at Micro Nerds, are making me envious of your T lenses for filming. I've spent a shed load on standard camera lenses for "She who must be obeyed" to allow me to change my lenses to cinematography lenses. Especially when I do this for a hobby.

😄 I can imagine. It’s a lot of fun using cine lenses, but they’re also quite limited. No AF, no electrical contacts for example.

Hope they send you the rest of the set! The 17mm is great but the combo is really fun. I bought them myself and still need to get a review out!

This also has the worst close focus of the rest of the set with the 25 being great for close ups.

Hey, I love it I have the whole set 17,25,35,50 they are pretty well matched with some CA and flaring wide open, using a mate box it is much better well it is kind of a must...by the way which model are you using...I love the Mitakon image with my BMPCC4K it is a dream combination for the price...I have as well Meike T2.2 16mm but I prefer Mitakon they are more Magenta and warmer...The lens get pretty sharp very as fast as you close it a little...another problem is to match this kind of lens with another lens you need to shoot with the whole set like in multicam or have vintage warm Magenta Lens ...nice video content love it Fil

I’d love to have the whole set! It’s a cool lens. Yeah, a matte box is mandatory. You’re right about matching. It’s difficult to match this lens with my DZOs for example

I have a BMPCC4K and use the Mitakon Speedmaster Cinema Lens 17, 25, 35mm kit. Using them together with the H&Y Revoring VND-POL I feel great. The flares are much less present with the filter in front.

Great vid. Have you compared this to the non-cine 17mm f/0.95? I'm thinking of using that for Talking Heads KZfaq (on a DJI RS3 Pro with the LiDAR autofocus). It's just a bugger to nail the focus but much cheaper than going with the sharper Voigtlander. I suspect the cine lens has a better focus-throw so if I were buying fresh, I'd go with that. And, of course, there seem to be problems with consistency of build quality so maybe I just have a poor example. It's a bit hard to find anyone else with one to compare with. But would be great to know your thoughts on the f/0.95 vs the cine t1.0

Thanks! I haven't compared it to the non cine version, but I think it'll work just fine with the non cine version for talking heads. I wouldn't buy the cine version just for that. Put one of those rubber gear rings on it and go for it 😎

I'm mid binging your videos, but I already have a question: How are you getting your sound? It's REALLY good. Could you please give me pointers for the process, or better yet, make a video about it?

not really happy with their FD Lens Turbo, although built quality is quite nice for the price. However, I was just waiting for them improving and doing exactly this move. NICE.

I use 17,35mm for bmcc4k and its a killer. Even using at gh5 is a killer.

How was the vignetting? I have the hole set. But are struggling a bit with the vignetting on the 17mm pears with the GH6. It's hard to critique something that cheep offering so much at the same time! But I really Wich the was a 9 or 12mm as well in the kit and that the design was consistent in term of distance marking etc. I have tested them out on some commercial shoot. Since that's what I normally shoot. But I normally use Cooke i4 or Leica Summicron-C paired with Alexa mini.

I forgot to mention the vignetting, but yes, it’s quite present. It’s hard to match it with other lenses. Bit then again, like you said, it’s hard to critique it for that at that price. I’d love to have the whole set though

After many years away from shooting I'm getting back into it. I've been using and older GH4 to get some practice and am now stepping up to buy S5IIX, Lumix S Pro 24-70 f/2.8 & Lumix S 35mm f/1.8. I will primarily be shooting educational videos in nature. But before buying I'm trying to verify my choices, can you comment on them?
@RedFrameTech
@RedFrameTech Жыл бұрын
The S5IIx is a great camera and so is the lens line up. However, I think it’s overkill if you’re going to be shooting educational content. I think the questions you could ask yourself are: Do I need ultra shallow depth of field? Do I need to shoot in low light frequently? Do I need to do heavy color grading? Does size of body and lens matter? Do I need to shoot high frame rates? Do I need reliable autofocus? In my opinion, if the answer to the first two questions is no, I’d go for something like a GH5M2. If you need to shoot high frame rates and want to shoot in ProRes or Prores RAW I’d look at a GH6. Lens choice in micro four thirds is massive and, if needed, affordable too. Unless you need reliable autofocus. Then the S5IIx would be a good choice. But, to be honest, in that case the ‘normal’ S5II would suffice. But if you just want the S5IIx and you can afford it, by all means go ahead 🙂 I mean, if I had the budget right now I’d get one as well.

@@RedFrameTech Thanks! Yes to shallow, low light & autofocus. I feel good about camera choice, it's the lenses that I have attention on. Most shots are done in nature with many variables to consider. I expect things to evolve into short feature videos and this in my opinion will be a nice starting point. Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

Could I please pick your brains on external power to a GH6 or S5? I’m using an SSD to record to, which means that the USB is not an option. I also have a few NP batteries. I’ve watched a KZfaq on V mounts but it’s all way above my pay grade. Cheers
