Yup! It works! Biggest problem I had was finding Cotton Bacon, down here in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. I was going to just order it online, at between $4.95 - $6.95/pack, but hoped to get it in a vape shop. Few people are making their own coils these days, so nobody's carrying it. Then I found a shop that had some on clearance, for $2/pack! Good to go. I did everything, and my old lighter also had a burnt end on the wick. Did this trick, turning it upside down, and replaced the batting. Fantastic! Zippo changed to Rayon, probably around 30 years ago, and when I carried the lighter in my shirt pocket, I noticed I was getting fluid leaks. Quit using the lighter, went to BIC, which now only works until halfway down on fluid, then quits. Back to the Zippo after all these years. I was going to just deal with the leaking fluid, until I saw this. Even THAT problem is now fixed! Thank you very much for the solution, and now I can use my old Zippo again.

I'm gonna do the same with all my sentimental zippos. I know you recommend changing the cotton every six months. However, this is the 1st time changing the cotton in my favorite zipp that I've had for over 20 years, and its probably gonna be the last. Why mess with a good thing? Dad would go to California and back with his whole family working on farms during planting to harvest time, one of the things they did was pick cotton. He mentioned short and long strand cotton. Long strand was a superior cotton. I suspect that Cotton Bacon is the long strand.

Hi, I don't have cotton bacon prime, but I used Native platinum blend, which is a very white and very absorbent organic cotton. I used it for vaping, and it was very performing. Now I've marked the date, to see how long it lasts.

This may sound funny. However Walgreens ibuprofen has cotton on the top looks and feels like cotton bacon. Probably is not as good but if you can’t find cotton bacon or a way to save a couple of bucks I bet this would work.

Its a know fact that lambswool is able to absorb more moisture than cotton. Once wet it also take longer to dry. Maybe wool is even better than cotton?

Faster absorption doesn’t mean more capacity. I’ll try it out but I’m not quite convinced. Maybe you stuffed more cotton in the new one compared the old one. Like I said I’ll give it a try.

Hey zippo man, this isnt related to the video but, In one of my zippos, I was changing out the flit, and the small little piece of the flint while I was taking it out flipped and got stuck inside of the little flint pipe. Right in the middle of it. Other than just bashing it apart for an hour, do you have any recommendations of getting it out?

My zippo is a slim one. Is there a specific method for the slim?

I've bought some cotton bacon from amazon for less than £5 with delivery and it arrived yesterday. Filled my zippo with it today so will see how long it lasts compared to the rayon that the zippo came with? I usually get 6 to 7 day's anyway but if it lasts longer then its a bonus! If not then I've not really lost much coz it was only £5 and I used hardly anything so got loads left
