زرقون عربی زبان کے لفظ زر اور گون سے اخذ کیا گیا ہے جس کے معنی ہیں سنہری رنگ والا ۔ اس پتھر کا انگریزی نام Zircon) )ہے ۔ زرقون ایک نایاب پتھر ہے جو کہ بہت سے رنگوں مثلاً سفید ، نیلا ، پیلا ، سبز، سرخ ، گلابی ، اورنج اور براؤن رنگوں میں بھی دستیاب ہے ، مگر عوام الناس میں نیلے رنگ کا زرقون بہت مقبولیت حاصل کر چکا ہے ۔ سفید رنگ کا زرقون ہیرے سئ کافی مماثلت رکھتا ہے ۔ یہ پتھر دنیا کے بیشتر ممالک میں دستیاب ہے مگر جنوبی افریقہ، امریکہ، یو کرین، انڈیا ، آسٹریلیا ، برازیل اور چائنہ میں پائے جاتے ہیں ۔
اس پتھر کا حاکم سیارہ مشتری اور پیدائشی مہینہ دسمبر ہے ۔ اس لئے دسمبر میں پیدا ہونے والے لوگ اسے پہن سکتے ہیں ۔ اور اس قیمتی پتھر سے فائدہ اٹھا سکتے ہیں ۔ یہ پتھر برج جدی، اور سنبلہ والوں کیلئے بھی بہت مفید ہے ۔ اس پتھر کا پہننا جائداد اور اولاد کی جانب سے سکون لاتا ہے ، عزت و وقار میں اضافے کا باعث ہے ، دشمنوں کے خوف سے راحت دلاتا ہے اور ان پر فتح دیتا ہے ، مسائل اور رکاوٹوں کو دور کرتا ہے ، بہت سی مہلک بیماریوں مثلاً دمہ الرجی، جگر کی خرابی وغیرہ میں با اثر ہے ۔ یہ پتھر خوابوں اور تصوراتوں کو واضھ کرنے میں معاون ثابت ہوتا ہے ۔ یہ پتھر خاندان میں اتفاق پیدا کرتا ہے اور ہم آہنگی لاتا ہے اسلئے اس کو گھر میں رکھنا فائدہ دیتا ہے ۔
