Got back from Minnesota and I’m getting started on the S680 repairs again. We also remove the transmission from the 9530 to see how bad the gear damage is. #johndeere #s680 #9530

Thanks ZK for another great video. Was most interesting and enjoyable. Combine maintenance now days is so demanding in terms of looking at the high wear items. Your combine work today was great attention to detail work and client focused items. Learned a lot. The tractor transmission-wow. Seeing one pulled was great. Hat off to the young man that got it ready to pull. Lots of do’s and don’t there. That thing is huge and heavy. ZK appreciate your focus on repair or go remann. Never seen one apart. You attention to detail on the gear and shaft damage made most interesting decision point. Fully understand you going with a remann transmission instead of repairing with a big bill in the end. Huge piece to work on. About it for now. Your patience with these repairs is great. My compliments to you. Step at a time and easy does it always wins the repair. Enjoy your channel very much. You take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Those magnetic trays are so nice. I have half a dozen different sizes stuck on the side of my toolbox. Hell, you can mount them upside down and all your bolts will still stay put. And for a few dollars each, money well spent. I don't wrench on farm equipment but basically mechanics are mechanics the world over. Your techniques and processes are world class. You young up and coming motorheads can learn a lot from a guy like this. I been doing it 40 years and I do!

Another great teaching video! I for one really appreciate your thorough approach to your repairs. For instance, on the clean grain elevator, not everyone would've taken the time to remove that half link. I've seen technicians who would've been quite ok with letting that adjustment slide because it was "within spec" even though it could've been better. Great job! Your approach is very similar to how I do things. Very refreshing!

Excellent video as ever Zeth, I'm starting to wonder if everything on that S680 was knackered? (This is a British technical term meaning worn out, broken etc.)
@jules5811
@jules5811 Ай бұрын
From the UK. Replacing tin work, fuel tanks, castings etc probably makes economic sense in labour terms, but component repair if possible - welding at the least, seems much less wasteful. Cracks can be stopped with welding expertise, though wear cannot be. Tractors seem to be integrated with so much “nice to have” crap that maintaining them has become a hugely expensive nightmare. Bet half of it could be dispensed with.

Those valve posts for the feeder house are 2 parts (you can just pull the lower half off beneath the threads) and have internal seals that with age turn to brittle plastics which crumble and crack so the valve leaks. I have had some experience with those same valves and Hydra Force magnets on the hydraulic leveling system on older Ecolog 560D forestry harvesters.. Also, how often do rodent passengers come along with the machines in to have work done?

Hello! Just a curious question. What is the difference between a remanufactured and a rebuilt transmission? I understand that you have to replace all the damaged stuff in the transmission you are working on but what have been done to the reman transmission? How do you determine lock collar installation direction? I noticed on the CG auger the boot end was opposite of shaft rotation, and on the sensor end it was with rotation. Thanks.
@ZKMasterTech
@ZKMasterTech 2 жыл бұрын
Rule of thumb is opposite of shaft rotation but i don’t think it really matters that much on a low rpm shaft. I’ve done it both ways and I’ve never had a lock collar come off. I’ve put on thousands. As long as you have a good lock onto the cam of the bearing and the set screw is tight, it won’t come off unless the inner race of the bearing breaks.

Master Tech, maybe I missed this, but if I haven't can you write on the video why you4 fixing this machine. For instance, is it a trade in your working on, a customer's, this does several things. It's a selling tool for the Company you work for. People are more apt to buy a machine if they know it's been fixed. If it's not a trade in it helps me understand wear and tear on the equipment, and knowing when it goes back to the customer, it'll be ready for harvest!

Why does my 7R 350 in Farming Simulator 22 pull left? Also, how can I juice up my XUV865M to go faster than 31 MPH? PS if that divider on the auger frequently breaks off, why replace it with another divider? Why not just break that bottom of the divider off and mail it back to JD engineers, along with an evaluation of their job performance? Feedback is key, how will they get better not knowing of their failures? Now the customer has to pay for a new boot that, per your assessment, has a divider that will probably fail....again. Looks like a manufacturing warranty item. nothing the operator or owner could have done to prevent the designed to fail part.
