Congrats bro. I do have a big collection but for me it's the verite closed and stax l700 and he 1000se. I thought the atrium was close to the verite closed but the verite closed has better technicalities, so I didn't get them. Saying that I could clearly understand why someone would love it, it's breath taking just like the verite closed, but I'm more about technicalities. @Lagunakid24 I do have the lcd xc and indeed it's heavy. And honestly I do prefer the Sony MDR Z1R to the lcd xc I know that might sound crazy, but I like it's grand and cozy sound. Dynamic drivers sound better when closed than planars in my opinion. I do use the lcd i3 for my on the go planar needs. But honestly nothing touches the verite closed, it's natural and extremely technical it's just unreal that these two characteristics gets featured in one headphone. It's endgame level regardless of headphone type and I do have stax so that says a lot about the verite closed. I wasn't a fan of Zack's previous headphones, timbre was awesome but they lagged a bit behind in technicalities, the verites are just stupid when it comes to technicalities it's fast fast, dynamic, extremely detailed, in fact the closed is more detailed than the open and the open is more detailed than the atrium.

The Brainwavz XL Perf are overall pretty good pads for fairly low money. It is just basic PU-Leather but with the perforation it feels better on the skin and they are doing something for the sound. I have one pair in red, strapped on a 60 mm dynamic gaming headphone that I tried to retune and those pads helped a lot. Still not a audiophile headphone, more like a VW Golf with a 6 L V8 shoved inside :D The Brainwavz XL Micro sued pads are one of my most favourite price to performance. Sound wise not a fit for every headphone but damn nice feel.

@miagi13372 жыл бұрын
With VCs you mean Vérité Closed? I don't have that expensive headphones unfortunately. But I feel the Brainwavz XL Micro sued soften and/or reduce the highs a bit. I didn't feel like I missed something it was super relaxed on the MMX300 but in an A-B comparison you would notice reduced highs I think. Bass is still solid. The Perforated effect is a bit more complex I think. They do something to the highs that is more complicated. I thought of reducing high reverb in some headphones, at least compared to solid PU or Sheepskin Pads. Unless the headphone has no problem with that, than they don't do much there? And they do things to the bass. But it's surely not like Headphones can't be bassy with it, oh no. I once put Brainwavz XL Perf with an good 3D printed Adapter on the SHP-9500 and it was crazy amounts of bass. Not good quality, just maxed out the quantity. No recommendation, but surprising experience pad wise.

If listening to a song is now wowzers because the headphones reveal more details and open up to more imaging, spatial cues and sound idiosyncrasies never heard before, then, in my humble opinion, it is more to do with audio than music. For me, the melodies and their intricacies with one another make it or break it. I'll enjoy it more if I can hear it better, more distinctively and fully. I'll even appreciate a bow's grind on a string and the warmth of breath on a vocal. But listening to audio for me is a different experience and a less enjoyable one in that. At the end of the day, I just want to attain that ethereal emotion that music creates, unencumbered by my gear. Of course, we're all different, thank goodness, and if folks have fun with other stuff then that's great, duh. At the end of all this I just wanted to delete the comment but since it actually took a minute to write, well
@chungang70372 жыл бұрын
Regarding hearing more in music due to a better headphone, I recently did this with the Austrian Audio x-65, which has insane detail (Focal clear level, allegedly) and crazy imaging and separation of instruments. It is a neat party trick, and interesting to hear different instruments especially if you are into acoustic/classical or more analogue music. I am glad I only spent the 400 bucks on those headphones for that experience. As an amateur musician myself, it sounds unnatural and not how music is supposed to be experienced, though it will help with making recordings of my music. I wonder if these $2500+ headphones fix this issue, bring musicality and detail/imaging together in a nice package or is it just more of the same.
@masterxyr2 жыл бұрын
@@chungang7037 yep, sort of a musician myself, and this is apparently a leitmotif in the field. From a technical standpoint, it is amazing how much HPs can be a world unto themselves but when music is what I want, a lot of detail also brings out noise and artifacts :)

@@masterxyr oh man, it is so true. I tried the x-65 with some classic rock albums I used to enjoy as a kid and all I heard was artifacts and issues. With acoustic stuff, a mixed bag, but I realized I don't need to hear a soloist adjust their posture in their seat or a guy's watch or ring to clack against their instrument. It makes me wonder if the people who love analytical/detail monster headphones are into electronica/synthetic music where I I usually hear less of that
@masterxyr2 жыл бұрын
@@chungang7037 yeah, we need to keep 'bad' HPs to listen to poorly recorded stuff haha. I noticed I began listening to super well-recorded music only because/for the headphones. I'm mostly over that phase, as unfortunately, the majority of what I like is not super audiophile. As to folks and detail, I actually believe many really enjoy the audio side of things. @@masterxyr Diana Krall, yes, I often forget that people listen to a lot of vocals in music (I don't really). Zeos needs to get the Acoustic Titan Mesh damping filters that ZMF makes and redo this video. I think that it’s an amazing, cost effective product that just might change his pad preferences. I’ve actually tried them on other headphones with good results. They’re waaay better than using foam which breaks down over time. These things will last forever and I haven’t found any negative effects. They are effective on headphones that maybe need some reduction in the upper mids/ lower treble without messing up the highs. I'm sorry but it seems insane to me that I need to buy a tableful of pads in order to figure out how to make a fucking $2500 set of headphones sound good. To me that says there's either a problem with the design, or else the designer doesn't know what pads to sell with their headphones (neither of which I imagine are true). I'd like to buy a set of ZMF cans, but on top of looking amazing, they need to sound amazing with the included pads. So in the end, they are intimidating to buy as it is, but adding in the decision of which model to get with the additional decision of which pads to get is out of control.
