I grew up in the area and lived about a mile outside of Zoar. All of my siblings worked at the hotel in the 70's,,the stories are all so true! From what I remember, the hotel was the first building to try to make money in the settlement. It failed a dozen times over. It's been bought and sold over and over. The tourist attraction there is huge so it should have been a massive $ maker. It's always been said it was cursed. To this day. They used to do ghost tours through there, not sure anymore but the entire village is a true treat to visit.

May I suggest you investigate the Post Boy Ghost? Not that far from Zoar. I lived in a wonderful Civil War farm between the Oak and the Tavern where he was supposed to have appeared, a matter of a couple of miles. There were a number of inaccurate legends at the time--the killer was NOT hung from the Post Boy Oak, for instance, so you wouldn't see him hanging there unless you had a particularly strong imagination. Still, the tree that overhung the road on the hillside was a creepy place at night. (I understand it's no longer there. I lived there well over 30 years ago.)

I was so happy to see you posted another video today. These are so fasinating. I am 61 and 7 years ago bought a house that is 115 years old. I'm the 3rd owner. I am so happy to have found out I bought a haunted house. When looking at the place I went into the basement and was snapping pics for my son to see. I really didn't look to closely at them at the time. About 2 weeks later I was going through them and saw 2 faces watching me. There is a ledge in the basement and they were if you can picture looking over from that ledge. They are clear as day. You can see the glasses both wear. One is female one is male. The male has facial hair and the woman has short curly hair. I showed the picture to a neighbor that lived there and asked if they saw anything in that pic. I wanted to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. She seen them also and said the man lived here and died in the house many years ago. She didn't know who the woman was. While painting in we call the Attic room, I was bent over stirring the paint and was patted on the rear end twice, like love pays. I stood up and looked around because I knew I was alone there. This has happened a couple times since. I have things moved all the time. I can put something down, even next to me and it will be gone. I actually have to ask them to give it back. One night there was a thunderstorm. My grown son was staying here for a couple days. He had at the time 4 pitbull dogs with him. They stayed upstairs in the Large bedroom. There is a smaller bedroom also up there. I slept in a bedroom downstairs on main floor. The smaller bedroom was above my bedroom downstairs. About 10 minutes into this thunderstorm I heard from the room above me boxes hitting the walls, things being thrown, stomping. Obviously this was unsettling. My son's dogs were barking at the noise also. The barking woke my son up. He then heard the noise coming from the small bedroom. I was on my way upstairs to see what was going on. He at same time was coming out of the the bedroom he was in. We both went to small bedroom and Nothing was out of place. The noise had stopped when I was walking up stairs and he was coming out of his room. It was so bizarre. We both heard it, and it was like someone was throwing things around and stomping. The dogs hair was standing up on end ,but they wouldn't go in that room that night. These are 4 large pit bulls. Two over 100 pounds. I have now Heard the same noise again at different times during a storm. Also while working on the house we found two hidden rooms I was never told about. One behind a closet wall and one off the attic room and goes over part of the kitchen. That one I cannot stand straight up in. I'm 5'1". I also found out that I have a hidden room outside. This was told to me by an older woman that lived on my road many many years ago. She asked if I had been in it. I didn't even know about it. I have now dug and seen the sides of the room outside. I still haven't gotten into it. . I am selling the house , but hopefully will get into it before I sell it.. I guess the guy that died here many many years ago had an old coin collection that came up Missing and never been found. The very day I signed papers on this house I had a guy come here and ask if he could metal detect for exact words," coins and trinkets", his mom was the old lady that told me about the room. He obviously was wanting to look for the coins also, but didn't want to tell me this. I said no. I am hoping my son will have time to somehow get into that room outside before I move. If we get into it and find anything cool or the coin collection I'll let you know, from the Bahamas, LoL anyway sorry this is so long. I just wanted to tell you about my ghosts that reside here. I do hear them talking or the female humming quite often. Very faint and cannot make out the tune. I hope whomever gets this house when I sell it enjoys them as much as I do.

@@CuriousHistoryYT it is an awesome house. Just too big for me. I'm 61 and don't need a 5 bedroom house. I was hoping my some would be able to get over today ( Halloween) and get into the hidden room outside. I want to live stream it if possible. If not I'm still going to video record it. I have bought a skeleton from a Halloween store and if I am able to get into the outside hidden room I am dressing the skeleton and making fake jewelry with the initials on the jewelry J.H. LoL Hoffa will be found at last. I will leave the skeleton in the room for the next owner to find.

My wife and I were eating dinner at the Zoar Tavern. We were seated just inside the front door to the left at a table. My wife was sitting in the corner position and I was sitting facing the corner. On the wall above my wife's head were pictures of Zoar from the past. After placing our order I was looking at these pictures.. From my chair I noticed the reflection of a person approaching our table. Assuming it to be our waitress with our drink order I sat back so she could place the drinks on our table. When I looked around there was no waitress. In fact no one was there. That was our encounter with George.

I live in T-county! I grew up hearing about the hauntings in the Zoar tavern. Never experienced anything. But we live about a 1/4 of a mile from Schoenbrunn village. Our old apartment just down the street from here always had strange and unexplained things happening. One time my daughters toy cat just started going off, so I turned it off... it did it again... so I removed the batteries, and it did it again... so I threw the cat away. Lol. (Stress this was a TOY) My daughter was 3 at the time and she would stare at her window talking about all the people walking outside.... I didn't see anyone... We came to find out that the apt sat on land that was once part of the schoenbrunn village. The local historians believed that this land could have been one of the sites of a massacre of the tribe during the Civil War era... I have to admit, there is a LOT of history in this area....

In 1984 in a friends haunted cottage, middle of the afternoon with bright sunlight streaming in plenty of windows. (So by no means creepy) A large door hook like used on barn doors that was installed on the door frame as extra security when latched in the eye mounted on the door. It was in a non-latched position where it would hang straight down, it began lifting up, swinging up and out and then slamming down hard over and over like you would use a door knocker. As I struggled to get out of the large overstuffed chair my eyes never left it as I then ran down the hallway to the back bedroom where my then Girlfriend/future wife was folding laundry on the bed immediately she sort of giggled and blurted out “What’s wrong you look like you’ve seen a ghost”?!! Never again in my life have I witnessed an obvious poltergeist or haunting situation. I was 19 yrs old then.

Zoar is truly a beautiful and interesting location. It's always perplexed me how so many people seem so certain that Spirits can't possibly exist... I've always known that naturally, they're here with us... Considering that we're not much more than essentially electromagnetic energy. Wouldn't it make sense that we're able to imprint ourselves on to our surroundings? Also, there happens to be A LOT of limestone around... And limestone is known to have magnetic properties, much like the tape that we once used to record voice and music. I've visited Zoar many times, but never have had any Paranormal experience there. However, I grew up in a legitimately haunted house and have lived in several of them over the course of my 55 years. I currently own a haunted 1857 home in Central Ohio. A lot of people that I've known for years think I'm off my rocker... UNTIL they come here to visit. That's when most of them change their minds.😉 Cheers!

@@CuriousHistoryYT you bet they are! It turns out that the block that the house is on, was once the farmstead of my neighbor's family... All of the houses from the corner (his house) on down the block, were built by his Great, great Grandfather and Great Grandfather for their children as they grew up and married. Each house has about two acres, give or take. The house we live in was my neighbors Great Great Aunt's home, original construction was 1856-1857. I'm not sure if she's "around", but the most recent owner of this particular house was my neighbors Uncle. He lived here from birth in 1938 until he passed away in 2004. The house sat vacant, but was maintained by my neighbor and his kids for the period that it sat empty. It's a wonderful old structure... The original three-room cabin has been added to over the years, with the latest addition being a bathroom that was tacked on in the late 1940s. Big, wide Heart Pine plank floorboards that are through-nailed with square cut nails. Entire logs of Walnut for floor joists, pegged through. Ancient fireplace, ancient hardware and the works. We moved in after it had sat vacant for about fifteen years... While we were looking at the house, I asked the Agent if it was haunted... We were here several times while we were deciding on it. The Realtor would only answer "it is if you want it to be". Anyhow, I had "that feeling", but never sensed anything malicious. So we bought the place. We were here a good month before anything weird started happening... The first of which was the television switching on or off, seemingly whenever it felt like it. Same went for the ceiling fixtures in any random room. We also have a deaf Maltese dog... He'd sit his butt in the corner of the doorway to the dining area, from the living room... And look through the dining area into the kitchen directly to where the counter and stove meet up. He'd cock his head and move his ears, and I'll be damned if he didn't seem to answer whatever was "talking" to him, by "barking" (which he doesn't) , by saying "woo woo woo woo" really softly... Incredibly weird! Well, this went on for nearly a month, all the while the lights and TV doing their thing, too. THEN, it got to where each morning at precisely quarter to four, I'd wake up and swing my legs off of the bed and look at the doorway in the front bedroom... I'd see what appeared as a tiny ball of purple light, always followed immediately by a flash of what looked like green lightning that would "fall" out of the purple light ball... Directly in the doorway... And damned if I wouldn't just think "okay", and swing right back into bed and go right back to sleep... Like nothing ever happened! I guess I put it all together after about three weeks of it happening night after night, but I never did mention it to my wife. Well, I guess I didn't need to... Because out of the blue one day, she asked me if I had been being woken up in the middle of the night.... I asked her if she had, and she said "well, I've been seeing green heat lightning a lot" And this "lightning" looked A LOT like heat lightning... A note here... I'm what's considered an Empath... My wife isn't "sensitive" in the least. Well.... The whole deal was sealed for me later that month. I was outside, painting the fence and the neighbor walked over and asked me if we were enjoying the house... I told him that we were. He then asked if we had experienced anything odd since we'd moved in, so I asked him what he considered "odd". He proceeded to tell me that while the place was vacant and he'd send his kids over to dust or clean up, if they'd start horsing around or tried to sneak a cigarette, or do anything untoward... That they'd get chased out of the house by GREEN LIGHTNING! I told the neighbor that we'd seen the green lightning every morning for the last month... But it never was "scary", it just seemed like something saying "I'm here". Anyway... I was up in the attic of the small barn one day and found a few car show trophies and an old straw hat... There's a really BIG steel barn farther back on the property, that "Bill" used to keep his old cars in. I ended up taking those trophies and the straw hat out to the big barn, put them on a shelf and made up a wooden sign that says "Bill's Barn" on it. We haven't had nearly as much activity in the house for over four years... Every now and then, the Maltese will "talk to" the stove... But no purple lights or green lightning anymore. However... When I'm out in the big shop working on something, I sure can tell that someone (Bill?) is right next to me, "helping". Even friends that come over to do oil changes or other maintenance on their vehicles can sense that someone else is in the garage, helping out. Isn't that something? Cheers!

What an absolutely amazing series of events! I think it would be so cool to be able to sense things like that and have a “nice” spirit to deal with. You should think about telling your story in some form so the world could know about it. It sounds amazing!

@@CuriousHistoryYT unfortunately no, and special permission is required to access, we'd snuck in from a picnic area behind the power generation plant, with an old overgrown abandoned coal supply railroad in the woods. I think the complex was fully abandoned in 1996 and has really started deteriorating. But, its so vast, it had its own police and fire station buildings, roads, and streetlamps. I cant recall the name, however, but im sure the locals must know of it. Really worth a look around. 👍

I like these Ghost stories because they don't include EVP sessions and other things like that. I just want a good ghost story without people opening themselves up to demonic influence or possibly possession. People should never play with the paranormal or the occult. It is a video that keeps me intrigued from end to end, keeping my imagination to wander through the passing of times. Many years have passed since the then period but the legacy, yes John the legacy is still with us. Those who once used to live here are now at rest in the crematory. But their concious minds, emotions, thoughts and feelings are here. These can not be buried! You cannot distroy them! You cannot burn them! They are with you and me forever, coming to live whenever and wherever they wish without any warning and disappear too without any notice. This is like playing an annoying prank with rest of us in our daily chores only to remind that you and me are not different from them. We too express our love, happiness, joy and pain as they used to hundreds of years ago. The chords between generations remain active and alive! Thank you for this nice presentation! This is something more than just 'being nice'. Have a great day!

@@CuriousHistoryYT Yeah I tend to notice the things others do not. It's a curse. 😅 I find that the best spirit interactions come with treating them like an old friend vs. someone being interrogated. The way you tell your stories is a very similar approach. It's probably why you have them around you when you're speaking. They enjoy your stories as much as we, your audience, do. completely shocking that a well organised commune with all participants agreeing upon the ideals through democratic decision making and reliance of one another would in anyway work. its as if such a system is integral to human survival and has been noted to be the most commenly successful form of society in the 200,000 year long history of homo-sapiens on planet earth. hm, i wonder what such a process is called? oh that's right, mutual aid. one of the most integral parts of evolution for ANY animal.
