Working well for me on T-Mobile. The read receipts option works, as well as “typing”. Only issue is the reactions.

RCS is still ‘iffy’ at best. From the same person and conversation, some of my messages will show RCS and I get delivered and read receipts while 10 seconds later it swaps to sms and I no longer get visual notifications if anything was sent, delivered, or read

@@chutspyro8087we've had it on Android proper in some form or fashion for 4 years. Google also bought Jibe which runs the RCS servers. That happened in 2015 I believe.

Feels so great because I chat with my sister DAILY and she has a Samsung. It’s so annoying when I get the notification that she liked a message and now we can send each other messages seamlessly. I use to love my android but moved over to iPhone for the simplicity. I love how they’ve added customizations that are not too over the top but make a big difference. I’m loving iOS 18 on my iPhone 15. Battery life is great and honestly no more overheating!

@@Coolbreeze117this example is sort of far stretched a bit because it can’t be compared to Apple/android messaging issues. Regardless of whatever phone we have , we should be able to do the basic features of what a mobile device should do. Imagine sending a photo between android and Apple and the photo is so blurry. Does that mean I should go switch over to Apple so I can be able to receive very clear cut HD photos obviously not. Or say an Apple device and android device are on a phone call and one starts cutting/ stuttering every single time because two different phone companies are tryna compete (this is hypothetical case btw). There are basic features that should be universal across all devices. You don’t go around seeing a car without a steering wheel, doesn’t matter however it is designed or built, as long as there is a steering wheel regardless of the makers of the vehicle. Competition begins when you’ve got variety of features implemented into the device whilst the basic features are still retained. MagSafe is available on iPhone but not android, that’s not a basic feature any user needs now but more of a convenience, a consumer might decide I want MagSafe charging and ends up going for an iPhone just cause of that singular reason.

@@tfleming675 While not important per se, all of my friends, literally, are on iOS and we have indeed tried to have group chats together that break very quickly when trying to add others to it, messages containing videos failing because of the potato quality, etc. It sucks to be sole reason chats break and become unbearable, so I'm glad that will finally stop being the case for us, and things should work a lot more natively like they're used to among themselves via iMessage.

Indeed, that is a basic feature of RCS, being able to enter and leave a group chat whenever without breaking the chat. It's bult into the spec itself so it should work on iPhones too once they have it.

Some people here use Telegram. The only other app I use is Facebook messenger. Otherwise everyone just uses the default messages app for their phones. I'd much prefer that and RCS makes it a hell of a lot better.

The only problem with RCS at least the one that you being used by carriers to communicate with Apple and android devices is not secure like iMessages and actually provides a false sense of security. One of the big pushers for RCS is the carriers because it is a hope that they can track and Collect more data from its users iMessage protocol, actually prevent carriers from seeing more data from their users. This is why Apple will continue to use the green and blue bubbles because the blue bubbles will indicate that it is an actual encrypted message that can stand behind the green one is one that they cannot

Although it is not E2EE like iMessage or RCS Messages sent between two Android phones it is encrypted in transit. Of course this is not as good as E2EE, but it's a heck of a lot better than sending everything in plain text like SMS. Hopefully in time Apple can work with the GSMA to add E2EE to the universal profile.

using iPhone 11 with iOS 18 beta 2 and getting extraordinary battery life, super smooth, no issues at all. getting around 8-9 hours screen on time on an avg. Max I got 10 hrs yesterday and I m using it from 100 to 10% battery daily. Charge it when it reaches 10%. on iOS 17 , i ws getting 4-5 hours. dont know what has happened. but I am loving it. Also one more thing, Battery health is 79% and I bought it on Dec 2019.

Q: Now that you can send over wifi, do you still need working cell service? ios allows you to use imessage w/o carrier service (w/ wifi etc) you can just address an email account. I have a mix of older android (Pixel 2/3 etc) phones/PC's/ios devices. So far I've just used MS teams to try and bridge the cross platform gap for chat type capability. Do you have a better recommendation?

Yes, because the Wi-Fi is not carried through Apple for the data of service for messages but rather steal your carrier over their data. Even if it’s over Wi-Fi, it connect back through your carrier to connect the two services.
