Hello,Terri Jo, good morning from Flanders! 👋 This was our yearly visit of Zoo Planckendael from my friends and me. As you may have noticed, the animal enclosures are much bigger here. They do have the room here, in contrast with Zoo Antwerpen, where the Zoo is enclosed between house blocks and central station. So we need quite some time to get round. At Zoo Planckendael, the animals are located according to the continents : Asia, Oceania, Africa, America and Europe. We always start with Asia... didn't even get to America and Europe! The Zoo closes at 5.30 pm already this time of year. We have decided, next time, we'll start the other way round... That way, maybe we could finally see the lions and koalas when they are awake. 😉😀👍 l also had hoped the enormous "greenhouse" of the tropical birds would have been finished meanwhile. But it wasn't. Pity, because l had hoped to be able to feed the rainbow lorikeets again, as l did in 2019. Look at the thumbnail of my YT channel! 😉 That was so much fun! Thank you for your visit and the encouraging words, Terri Jo! 💙👍

I think my favorite was the wallaby. So adorable! Winna was born on June 10? Funny how the storks were just hanging out with them. The cheetah looked curious, like any cat. 😊 Thanks for the tour of the zoo!

There's a whole colony of storks that comes over to Zoo Planckendael each year to build their nests and breed. They aren't fed, nor supplied with nest materials. It all has to be done in their natural way. The zookeepers only provide sturdy platforms for the nests. The storks are quite successfully breeding too each year. Biggest colony in Belgium. The chicks are all ringed, so it can be followed where they fly to for winter. Unfortunately, some are found dead and then it's reported via those rings as well. Turns out, most of them fly to northern Africa. In fact, l was a bit surprised myself a few storks were present still. That's why l mentioned them. The lions are usually still sleeping, as our tour starts going passed them around 10 am. It was chilly and misty. We should think of going back in the afternoon! 2 cubs were born here as well, recently. But they are kept indoors still. But those cheetahs! It's quite an overwhelming experience when they pass the glass window over there. So closeby! That way, you can see even better how beautiful those big cats are! Thank you, Emily, for watching and your comment! 💙👍😻

I was looking for the meerkats! Then the whole gang from the Lion King would be there lol! (No Nala, either.) The horse and the one zebra looked pregnant. True? The baby bonobo, Vivazi? The storks photo bombing the video. "Excuse us, walking here!" Lol Love the music! Great video!

There aren't any meerkats at Zoo Planckendael, only at Zoo Antwerpen. Got a video planned with them! And also with other animals. I'm not done with my tour there! They've got zebra mongooses though. They are a bit bigger than meerkats... and striped, as the name indicates. But l couldn't get them on camera properly. I don't know about the Przewalski horse and the zebra being pregnant. Nothing has been reported about that (yet). This was at Zoo Planckendael, so not Vizazi. She's in Zoo Antwerpen. Didn't make the time to look up about the baby bonobos. There are several of them. Bonobos are a separate variety of chimpanzees, living in Congo, between the 2 rivers over there. So they evolved on their own. Of all big apes, the bonobos specifically share the highest percentage of DNA with us humans. 98.7 percent! I got 3 options for the thumbnail of the video : the elephant, the watusi cattle and the zebras. I think you would have chosen the same one l did... 😉 😀 🦓 Indan music is easy on the ears, at least to me. Quite relaxing. Yeah, the storks! Found that funny and surprising too. Thank you for watching and your comment, Traci! 💙👍

@@carinagryp6264 I didn't even notice you were at the other zoo! I guess I must've skimmed over that part, in a hurry to watch the video! The horse and zebra just looked like their bellies were extra large. Yes, you picked the right thumbnail. Lol!

I hoped you would get the notification for this video. I took those photos especially for you, Leon, hoping you wouldn't be offended by them. It's all made quite as it would have been in the past in India, l presume. But that on its own makes it interesting. There's an Afica inspired village as well. But this one was more appealing to me, because of obvious reasons, and l hoped to you too and to other viewers. Glad your response was a positive one! 😉😀👍 I was also happy to show you how much fun your friends and family had... 😉😂😂 When they tell you about the fun they had in an email, you can answer them you saw it with your own eyes now. 😉😂😂 Thank you for watching and your amusing comment, Leon! 💙👍
