Thank you! Very helpful as I consider the Flow 8. Your critique and suggestions for interface changes seem insightful- I hope they reach the right people.

Very good and really helpful comparison. I'm torn between these two units for all the same feature differences you highlighted. It's good to know all this to make an informed decision. I'm leaning toward the Flow since I don't really need it for recording; and I like its routing, EQ, compression and FX functions. But having all the functions accessible and the stereo monitoring like the Zoom has would be really nice.

Great real user review. You’re the first person to point out clearly that the L8 mix ABC is a mono jack when used with an external speaker. Thank you. It’s also worth a mention that the same applies when sending a stereo signal [say, from computer headphone] as line inputs to channels 1-6. We use Soundcraft UI16, Zoom L8, RodecasterPro and Behringer UMC404HD in different broadcast/livestream setups and will add the Flow 8 for desktop use. 👍

Thanks for the review man, you went through everything we really appreciate it. I just got mine a couple of weeks ago and I’m using it on gigs now and I love the sound quality and a small form factor. I put it right on top of my keyboard saved me from bringing another stand or something to put my mixer on it’s all right in front of me when I play and I love having all the controls right in front of me I don’t even need the app game changer for me.

I’m using zoom l8 in tandem with r12 for my band backing track, recorder and band iem. Since all the sound were already produced from source all I need were very clean and true to the source sound. My only gripe were. I need more output for them iem. I use a headphones amp as a workaround but we’ll it’s more ideal to have more then abc

Thank you for this review. Very good. I have the the Zoom L-8, but am not comfortable using it live without EQ on the mains and monitors. Also the monitor outputs don't work with TRS-XLR. I have some other problems, too. It's good for practice, though. As for the Flow 8, can you let me know if it's possible to adjust the level of FX to the monitor mixes? Or is it one level for FX for all sends? Thank you!

The L8's headphones/monitor outputs do work with TRS-to-XLR adapter cables, but because you are going from a stereo jack to a mono XLR connector you need to have the correct pinout and you need to bear in mind that the signal at the XLR connector will be unbalanced. This means that it will be weaker than the signal you normally get at a balanced XLR connector. In a stereo jack to unbalanced mono XLR cable you need to connect: - Tip (stereo left hot) and Ring (stereo right hot) of stereo jack to pin 2 of XLR connector. - Sleeve (common cold / ground / shield) of stereo jack to pins 1 and 3 of XLR connector (i.e. solder a bridge across pins 1 and 3 and solder the conductor from the stereo jack sleeve to this bridge or to pin 1 or to pin 3).
