After using my Zpacks Triplex 3 person tent for almost four backpacking seasons I finally think I found the perfect (for me) 2 person tent so give this video a watch!

I did not know this tent existed till today, did a search for a review and this video was at the top. You're two inches taller than me so this is a perfect review. I think this will be my next tent.

Hey there I’m glad it helped you. I didn’t know it existed either until while up in Oregon finishing the PCT I went to PCT Trail days event and zpacks was there and I not only heard about it but they had one and I was able to get inside it to what it was like and if I would fit. If you look for the video sooner after I put this one out where I get on the pct for a quick overnight hike, I tested the tent out for the first time and got to sleep in it and talk about how it was so maybe check that one out. Yes I would agree, it’s nice that they added some features that some of their competitors were doing and at the same time addressed a few things to improve on what they were already doing. Hope to take it out soon

I was about to buy a Durston due to its offset poles and also not liking the Zpacks toggle closure, now I see this video 🙂 Oh well, back to the comparison drawing board ... 🤣 Thanks for this review 👍

Thanks for the review Mike. I was excited to see this new tent come out. I have both a duplex and a triplex and looks like I might be getting this off set tent also.

I'm also 6'3, this is one of the few real options imo. will likely choose either the offset duo or xmid pro 2. I wish i could find a nice dual wall with a 94in floor

V nice esp the pole offset, zippered doors, suspended bug net, 20:30 staked floor/groundsheet, & the other small add-ons. 👏 My Duplex interior is 45”w x 90”l x 48”h = ok for 5’10” me.

Thank you my friend. Yea at trail days when they unveiled it there they said the purposely made it slightly wider and longer than their standard duplex. Hoping to get out for a quick overnighter in a few days

Great review. I am ordered a solo offset. Can't weight, no pun, to hike with it. My current tent is over 3 pounds dry. It's going to be a game changer hiking up those hills after a soggy night.

This is my second zpacks tent and I felt the same way after I got my first one. Went from 3.5 pounds to 25 ounces and much smaller in my pack. You won’t go back to heavy Sil nylon tents after this .glad you enjoyed the video thanks.

Good morning, i watched your video three times now. Love the looks of this new tent, probably ordering this today. Hitting the Fla trail end of Dec and the PCT in April.

Thank you and glad it helped. I had the x-mid pro but felt it was too small. Not sure if you’re tall like me but this tent has just the right amount of room

Hey thanks yeah trying it out for the first time tonight so we will see. I had a really nice conference call the other day with the Codgers and we just caught up a little. We’ve all enjoyed getting back to regular life but it’s been tough and we already miss the trail. Cheers and let me know if you pull the trigger and get this tent!

Curious to see how the head room and foot room you were showing in this video measures up when you are inside your quilt and on top of your sleeping pad. I suspect it will still be adequate but significantly less than what this video showed. Tent has a lot going for it though. I still think they should make the zippered storm doors an option though and allow you to choose the old toggles if you like.

Really helpful thanks. I will consider this tent when thru hiking the PCT. Did you consider the Alti-plex which is a single tent made for tall people. A little lighter. I’m the same size as you. Same age.

You’re welcome and yes I’ve tried that tent, mentioned it in this video but even though I got in it, it was just too tight for me and almost no room for my gear inside of it which I’ve learned I like to have all my gear in the tent with me. Also the non door side of the Altaplex wall was very close to me so when I got condensation on the walls it go on me. Some people like and use it but I’m just personally not comfortable in it.

great reveiw. could you tell me how far have the trekking poles been offset one this tent. for example is it like 1/3 and 2/3's or more like 1/4 and 3/4

Hey thanks so much, I can’t tell you by thirds or 1/4 but being that I just had the regular version before this one the peak has moved about one foot from the center of the tent towards the head so now the highest point of the peak is almost right over my head. I hope that helps?

thanks for the quick reply. if it is about a foot it is not far off 1/3 to 2/3 alignment. i'm looking at making my own tent and i am looking at having an off set type of setup. @@MarmaladeOutdoors

Do you think a Helinox chair zero would fit in the vestibule? I’d like to keep my backpack off the ground

Hi there, so I think once the vestibule is closed/zipped it would just fit. Another way to keep your pack off the ground is what I sometimes do which is I cut a piece of Tyvek to fit under my vestibule and you can sit anything you want on it that you don’t want to get wet or dirty. I use it almost as a door mat on whichever side is the side I get in and out of. Cheers

@markdavid801 another back that might work well that I just heard you could do is for trekking pole tents like zpacks tents is a little before you go to sleep and you have mostly unloaded all your gear out of your pack, you can put all your food back in your pack and use the loop at the top of your pack and hang it from the top of the trekking pole inside your vestibule. Even if it’s a bit heavy it doesn’t strain the tent because it’s hanging next to the trekking pole and the entire pack is off the ground so there’s no way for critters to get in your pack. Sounds like a good idea to me

I could see the gleam in your eye when we checked it out at Trail Days. Didn't think it would take to long before we were treated to a review. They seem to have addressed the most common knocks against the original design. We will see if they did so successfully. I will be interested to know how you think it preforms in the wind. Some big flat panels on this tent. The basic shape looks familiar, maybe like a six moons design or gossamer gear tent. IDK.. Hope it works well and meets all your needs. ~S

Well it’s no taller and actually smaller than my triplex was and it did well in the wind so hopefully it will be the same. I’m going to try and go out on trail for a quick overnighter early next week to try it out. Just have to pick a stretch that’s not too tough on my hernia. It is an intriguing design, but so was the durston. This tent I actually have room in it though
