Social media has destroyed every single living generation to the point that even boomers who hated us using our phones are constantly attached to it , maybe the burden of proof should rely more on the private company than the consumer , since it is the one that controls content . Isn't that what capitalism is about? We should also educate parents and teachers to stop kids from using social media. App blockers are a good way to start that. Also , we as a civilisation never discussed how detrimental social media would be. We just jumped on the bandwagon and now we are here👆🏻

There is such thing as overreaching. There are vast benefits to the use of social media to facilitate the wide range of different types of children and their approach to social interactions. Such as the case of the shy children who don't interact well at school. To deprive them of an alternative and force them to either deal with a social interaction they are not comfortable with or be alone is dystopian. The issue is the ways that abuse can and should be addressed on the platform. Things like 24/7 hotlines specific to the social media sites dedicated to dealing with this issue would go a long way. But something as simple as submitting a ticket and hoping action to be taken is not enough. But just as easily as they can be abused, people can use an online space to be helped greatly. It's a new realm which means a new realm of security needs to be accessible.

I TRIED. I had blocks on their phones. So their friends let them set up accounts. My kids had time blocks on their Xbox accounts too - but there are apps to override.
