@Jay Cole I now live in the middle of nowhere and rarely ever get to town and never have cell service, so your question comes at just the right time. A day later and I wouldn't have responded for another month, or more. Anyway, a 28 mm carb would not work on a stock motor. You couldn't even use it on a 70 unless it was a race motor like an MHR. Your next step up from the stock 14 mm carb would be a Dellorto 19 (I wouldn't use any other) and to be honest, I think that you would actually lose performance because you are decreasing the velocity of the air being sucked in. A bigger piston (70) sucks in more air which is why you would size up to a 19 mm carb. And when you change carbs, especially the Dellorto, there are so many ways to dial it in and unless you have semi advanced knowledge of how they work and the different parts that are available to change specific parameters... Well, it's easy to ruin a 2 stroke. So, stick with the stock carb. I'm sure you know about the hack for the throttle pulley on the '08 and newer Zuma? A part can, and should be, ground/cut off so it has more movement. Plenty of DYI' s on forums. And I believe (been a long time) that the newer carb works better with a bigger main jet. And the only thing I recommend these people for, is their correct jets, and that's Zuma's R US. Otherwise, I don't really recommend them for much. 10:1 gearing on stock 50? Sure, you can do it but you'll of course need to lighten the variator rollers. It's also going to be slower off the line even with correct variator weights. Oh, buy the Stage6 tuning rollers to do variator tuning because you can actually run them like a normal roller I'd also suggest a better clutch. But, if you live in a hilly area, I'd actually advise against it since the motor just doesn't have the HP. Adding a pipe, like ones similar to the discontinued Leo Vince ZX and ZX-R would really help make up the power needed. DON'T get the Athena pro (?). They have such a narrow power band that most people find them very difficult to tune.

Pardon the late reply; I don't get on here much anymore. Anyway, there was quite a bit done to it, but of course not all of it for speed. If you go on 49ccscoot.com you can get tons of help and answers from a good group of guys to almost any question that you might have concerning scoots, what parts to get and in what order. And by simply registering there you become a member and get access to really good discounts from all the scooter parts companies which can bring down the costs considerably! I sorta lost my mind on this build and bought every expensive part possible and spent in excess of 7k and then parted it out. Stupid and noyhing to brag about. Although it was pretty nice to look at and a blast to ride when not too paranoid that the coppers would impound it. Sorry for the late reply. I don't get online very often anymore. Anyway, I had a 2013 Zuma and there just isn't much out there for them as far as power upgrades. And the few that are out there are expensive. If you want to have a quick scoot then you should think about selling yours and buying a 2008 - 2011 Zuma. The 2005 - 2007 are pretty much just as good, but the newer ones have a much better gear ratio for higher top speed. If you don't want to sell yours then go online to scootertuning.ca and look what they have for your scoot. They're in Canada but definitely one of the best and cheapest places to buy scoot parts. And just to let you know, I think I had somewhere around 5k into the motor on this scoot. I could have done it for 4k probably, but I wanted all the best. And the whole scoot was over 7 plus about 6 months to build it. Of course you don't need to go insane like I did. You can have a 60 mile an hour scoot for less than 600 in parts and still be Yamaha reliable. You can also do that in steps. Buy a pipe, then a carb then the cylinder.

Yeah the damn things are a blast and when you add a bit of power to them you almost don't want to put them away. The YZ must be a wheelie monster then? I'd like to have one as a supermoto.

@@MrSpaz12 Yeah the front end is off the ground about 50% of the time. I used to run Pro Circuit exhaust which is more of a top end pipe but now I run an FMF and it's got gobs of torque down low thru mid. Don't ride tracks as much and 38yr old knees don't like throwin whips (can't help but do em anyway!) so I got this one setup for more XC. In '08 had a new YZ250 setup for supermoto AND HAD A PLATE! I could rip around the streets legally on that thing, damn that was a blast. The PC R304 Shorty probably wasn't DOT approved though lmao 🙄

@@MrSpaz12 actually that Zuma was a blast in 8in of snow. Had to have my feet down but I was ripping down the un-plowed street at 35. To turn ya just stood up straight, leaned the thing and it'd drift around corner perfect. Never woulda thought that. Even blew past a cop and he didn't give a shit!

Put a 2fast 100 top end on that bugeye and it'll eat that yz

@zacharygillette7810 lol, it'd take a lot more than that. Got a 70cc kit on it now and other mods, it's a blast to rip around town. The bug-eyes are a bit heavy so I'm looking for a prebug to mod.
