Betty was a terrific musician first and foremost, and then a jazz singer. Which is what makes her the best jazz singer of all times.

I was introduced to Betty Carter as an 11-year-old kid watching The Cosby Show. Thank you, Mr. Cosby, for the jazz, art, higher education, and cultural traditions you introduced to my life via your silly yet substantive show. I am forever grateful.

I was also introduced to the great Betty Carter via the Cosby Show, as well as Tito Puentes. The show was extremely influential in re-introducing jazz to younger generations.

This is a wonderful film! In addition to being one of the greatest artists of all times, Betty Carter was a great mentor & teacher to young musicians (such as Geri Allen). I am so glad I got to see this great woman perform twice at Howard University with Lionel Hampton and at Philly's African American Museum in the 80s. What I witnessed was indeed a blessing! I know she is still jamming in heaven!❤️🎵

Wow! This is priceless, thank you! I saw Betty a lot in concert and I walk past that house once in a while. She was a genius, had a great sense of humor was very generous with youth. You could see so clearly at her Brooklyn Academy of Music concerts that she was serious about cultivating musicians who could hold their own. One of my fave small-venue concerts ever was Abbey Lincoln at S.O.B's. Two-thirds of the way through the set she said a good friend was in the house and asked her to come up and join her. It was Betty and they finished the show together. It was magic! I miss them both.

Always tried my best to get to Philly when she was in town. One night she sang to just me at Jewels... never forget it.
