This is not a good bike. You want a bike where the gear cable runs through the frame and no hand breaks. Cables break when you park it in a bicycle rack and it gets stuck behind someone elses steering.

Just a little tip when using the escalator. There is no need to use the brakes. As soon as the whole bike is on the escalator, turn the steering wheel 90 degrees. The bike is then not able to go anywhere anymore, you can even let hands loose of the bike.

I don't think I found it very comfortable at the time and I don't have the saddle anymore but I think that it depends on what bike it's on.... This would probably be excellent on a pure road bike or something with a more aggressive riding position.

Yeah, the car wash is "Tommy's Express Car Wash". I was looking at maps. It's all kind of depressing. I get you. Probably a lot of this has to do with the city not wanting to have to pay for the upkeep of a park compared to the upkeep of the previous golf course with the presumption that a park would be (should be) free access to the public, while a golf course would of had greens fees, cart rentals, and money from sales (pro shops) coming in all the time. They just wanted to be done with it and use the sale money from the land for other things. Very shortsighted of them. Also totally agree about the old shopping mall and those in general. You've got something already there for business and redevelopment without tearing up the open spaces. With the housing concerns, yes there needs to be that for people to live, but when too much of that is done, too massively, in brand new from the ground up areas, obviously there's a big profit motivation in play and it's going to mean more cars and more traffic and a lower quality of life. Even a more hazardous quality of life on a bicycle.

I have to check this out, as a swiss Konstanz is not that far away... If you are already so close to Switzerland: maybe you check out Luzern? It's not a particular "bikey" city but it's improving. And there is a wonderful bike road called Freigleis that was implemented on top of an abandonded rail track path. And if you follow it, you can cycle along the shores of the lake and across the Lopper tunnel (Seestrasse) which is very unique and beautiful. Oh, and you could also cycle to Emmenbrücke via Xylophonweg - approach it from Bruchstrasse which is a "Fahrradstrasse" too, one with beautiful colorful houses and cute little shops. Xylophonweg (a dedicated bike street) is just on the side of river Reuss - a beautiful cycle trip to the industrial suburb of Emmenbrücke.

I love my brompton. I can take it virtually anywhere. Trains can be really crowded here in Switzerland but the brompton always fits in, even if every seat is taken and luggage area already full I can still just put it between my legs.I can spontanously take a train from here to Freiburg (where they have much better bike roads) and drive around there. I also love to ride it, it feels like my very first bike felt that I had as a child in the mid 80s.

Well done to Microshift rim brakes are still around and very popular as are mechanical discs. Microshift even have a nine speed version of the sword with no clutch on the derailleur. Having Microshift quality in a drop bar shifted 1× clutched derailleur system with ten gears is excellent. Restomod builds are looking even better with this type of equipment available. It seems like whether it be an MTB build or a gravel bike build Microshift is stepping up and covering it all for a reasonable price. Nice build by the gentleman in the video. I would like to do a restomod build of a nineties steel road bike. Using Sword black brifters and a nine speed cassette and a Sword clutchless derailleur. Chinese Action square tapered cranks with a narrow wide chainring can be had for an extremely low price with a good quality Shimano B-UN55 square tapered bottom bracket used along with Tektro Mini V brakes. I would keep and refurbish the old school wheels and hubs with a modern headset and handlebars fitted while also using a new seat. 😎🇦🇺👍

Very cool road bike. Mine has pad brakes and a single front ring too. Yet it's new from last year. Ok so I think part of this, a big part of this actually, is the concept of what a university campus is supposed to look like. The idea that they let it all get grown over wildly is just outside of the mindset. Chico State University in Northern California which was my university in the 1980s, was much like this, very similar. It's supposed to be a well-manicured place for the grounds, and not an actual natural place for the layout of it. You're butting heads against the image of the university, even the image of the stereotypical university, at least for campuses which originated back in the 19th Century. It is funny in a way. Universities are expected to be progressive, but the image of them isn't. It's more traditional. It's what students expect to see also.

The Nemo rainfly is not intended to go to the ground, if it did, you would suffer inside the tent in warmer weather. I would not consider using a tent with a fly that goes to the ground, other than during the winter. The end of the rainfly that comes way up, should be staked out for further ventilation. As for the footprint, I do not think you had it setup properly. The landing zone will not be floppy once your gear is in it. As for the Nemo fabric, it is a new proprietary fabric that is stronger than silnylon, though it may not seem so. IMHO tents with flys that go all the way to the ground should not be advertised as 3 season.

You have your gears wrong, the gear you call 1st is the 3rd gear. The brakes on the front wheel are just for extra support. You are supposed to brake with the back wheel so the fact that the front does not brake that well is by design, if it would bite hard you would go over the handlebar easily. The Coaster brake also work on your input. You complain they do not brake that hard, stamp on it harder and you can brake harder untill the wheel locks (Children love to do this). Input is output. So brake with the back and if you need extra use the front. And when you start moving start in 1st or 2nd and go to 3rd when you gain speed. Using it correctly increases the experience.

Don’t do this. I came here because I was didn’t know how to remove these. I worked it out. Put the outer cap back on then use your hex key to remove the crank. The outer bolt acts like a crank puller.

Similar except that you don't want to bury the irises the rhizomes should be slightly above ground level, but it's similar in that the best time is right after they flower.... little bit later in the year than daffodils.

How is the braking performance given the cable pull ratio of the levers with the chosen brake calipers?
@spinningtrue
@spinningtrue 15 күн бұрын
It's very good, I think I read somewhere that the sword levers pull a little more cable than standard road levers which I guess in theory would make the brake slightly less powerful but has the advantage of allowing the pads to be further away from the rims.... in practice they just feel like normal road brakes to me, although I don't have too much experience riding road bikes.

This has actually been a huge help, thank you! I'm currently working on a friend's bike with this style of hub and it is in need of serious work. The shift pin is actually going too far into the hub and it's not shifting correctly, so I'm going to have to try and re-oil it! Here's hoping this works.
@spinningtrue
@spinningtrue 17 күн бұрын
Hmm that's weird, first thought is it's the wrong pin, second thought is that it's not in the right gear when you're setting the cable tension... but it's possible something is messed up in the internals?
@bellabella852
@bellabella852 17 күн бұрын
@@spinningtrue This hub has apparently never experienced maintenance in its life, and was stored outside for quite a long period of time! The oil is uh... Shall we say milkshake tier. I have a feeling something is internally wrong in the hub, I can get it to shift all three gears but I have to push the pin basically flush with the hub to get it into third, making it unable to shift with the actual hub shifter. Gonna try an oil soak like you did and see if that brings it around before replacing parts!
@spinningtrue

If people aren't willing to think about what you're saying and at least some of the time make thoughtful remarks back, then chasing them for viewership, like with short clip videos, would be a folly. I agree about the natural spaces of course. I hate to see the constant and mindless housing development here. This one place they were putting up about 1.5 miles away as "luxury apartments" of some kind got halfway finished, then they found something out of whack with it, let it sit for six months, then started demolishing it. So it's been a mess there for a long while. I'd like to hear more about the bike trails around there or just cool places to be on a bike there. I had a great long ride this morning up and down the hills on my road bike. It was super weather starting out in the nice cool time before six am.

Actually , if you bike in that area again , beside the bike path between Wateringen and the hamlet of T' Woudt there is a spot where on poles the original height of the land in the area in Roman time and the Middle Ages is shown, The Netherlands had mayor floods due to the land ending up BELOW sea level due to overdrainage of the peat based soil , that's why it is called 'Reclaimed land ' and not 'claimed land" or 'new land ' The original land was soggy; but mostly not swamp land .. big areas got lost in the early middle ages , both due to overdrainage but later also overharvesting of peat for turf , which created lakes which got bigger due to erosion of their edges ... So the Dutch did not create their country, they had to fix up what they ruined by bad water-management 😉

Regretfully it has been closed now due to worn out escalators and elevators, was planned for refit in 2030 but they might pull that forward .. there is an alternative connection in the same system but without elevators and quite a heavy incline , originally used for mopeds .. The Heinenoord tunnel ( actually under the Oude Maas , so the OLD instead of NEW Meuse ) has a system with only , bigger, elevators .. and the Maastunnel in Rotterdam has an antique escalator and a newer elevator system. Those three are all way preferable over the Kill tunnel as they have completely separate tunnels for the bikes , while the last has a bike path beside the cars .. a attack on the lungs, especially on a busy day ..
