You can tell the drivers learned their lesson in 06. In 06, they all stayed in line until the last lap and couldn’t catch JR, Johnson, and Vickers. They all made moves earlier in this race and gave themselves as solid chance

Junior would’ve placed much Higher or even won if he went down to the Bottom to Block Gordon with 4-5 to go but he stayed on the high side for whatever reason…. Love Jr But he Made some Choices or Neglected some Obvious Moves that cost him a Handful of Races in his Time.

My dad took me to this race. I was a big Jeff Gordon fan and 12 years old at the time. We drove a Mazda MPV mini van from our home in Central Virginia to attend. My dad gave me a radio headset, so during the race, I could listen to the broadcast commentary. When Gordon went to the outside and junior didn't go with him, my heart sank. It felt like an eternity when Gordon was all alone on the high side. I was so happy when he miraculously pulled off the win. Watching it on youtube at 30 years old is a nostalgic feeling. I'm thankful my dad took me to see this race. The whole experience was memorable. The day before the race, we ate at a restaurant called Aunt Catfish and I had gator tail for the first time. Make some memories with your kids because time doesn't stop for anything. Cheers to all the racing fans still watching in 2023!

I’ve searched for so long to find footage of the final laps of this race. I remember being a lil kid watching this the suspense watching those cars drive from the back to the front was something special. Listen to the crowd what a time for nascar!!!!

The problem was I remember vividly was the confusion fucking dw Larry and Mike put people under saying "was it the end of the race" even though it was a gwc. They did nothing but confuse their audience during this era over a simple rule.
