I turned 71 in May. I have been riding bikes for 50 years now. I've had everything from a 90 cc Enduro all the way up to a Suxuki GS 1000L . Currently I ride a Royal Enfield Meteor 350. It is the perfect bike for me at 71. When I ride I usually go out for 60-90 minutes. That is enough to lift my spirits and remind me of how great riding a bike is. I'd like to say it makes me feel like I'm 20 again. Unfortunately it only makes me feel about 40 LOL. I've thought about giving it up but I just can't. Ride as long as you can and stay safe out there.

I am seventy-six. I have had a motor cycle licence for sixty years. I have had several jobs, a youth and community worker in London, a navvy for the Australian National Railway and a careers adviser for disabled adults but in 2009 I was made redundant due to government cut backs following the Financial Crash of 2008. I was sixty-one at the time and no employer wants to give a sixty-one year old a decent job so, having always been interested in the history of the First World War, I rode my Triumph Sprint RS from England to Turkey to have a look at the Gallipoli battlefields. Then I sold my house and moved to rural France, something I've always wanted to do. I do not ride that much now, my knees are shot because of too much sport as a younger man. Then a couple of years ago I was given a Swiss Shepherd bitch called Tiko. I love her to bits but she is a bit of a tie. Maybe I'll sell the Triumph and buy one of those Royal Enfield 350s and just potter about the local lanes. Or perhaps one of those Suzuki SV 650s. The're nice and light. If you have a dream, follow it.

I'm seventy-six and have had a motorcycle licence for over sixty years. Twenty-two years ago I was a singer in a rock band. The father of one of the guitarists got about on an immaculate Honda CB 400F. Most of the band came from the Welshpool in mid Wales. Just outside the town the road crosses a railway bridge which forms the centre section of a double bend. In other words you ride around a right hand bend, then cross the bridge, then the road curves around to the left. One day this man's father was found dead on the bridge with the bike on top of him. Everybody thought that he had lost control of the bike through riding too fast but the autopsy revealed that he had had a heart attack. He had managed to get to the parapet of the bridge and stop the bike, then he collapsed and the bike fell on top of him. The bike was hardly damaged at all. There are worse ways to die.

I bought a 2022 Scrambler 900 and have been in love ever since !!!! It looks beautiful, sounds amazing, & provides all the power I need !!! I’m 62 and it has been 40 years since I last touched a motorcycle (my Yamaha Enduro 175 dual-sport). I love that I have the flexibility with my Scrambler to do some off-road & trail riding !!!! Thank You TRIUMPH for keeping the AMAZING Bonneville legacy alive and well !!! ❤❤❤

69 years old and on my 5th motorcycle. I now just ride my motorcycles for transportation and I’ve parked both of my Ford trucks in the garage. At 85 mpg on my Yamaha TW200 and 50 mpg on my Harley Nighster it’s an economical justification and a spiritual elation why I ride.

Let’s Face it, Riding a motorcycle is dangerous 😮 You got Two wheels and when your coming off your coming off Hard !! You hope and maybe it’s Fate, that you don’t hit anything Solid on the road or a car that stops you dead. Sliding down the road with full gear is no problem, bruised but you still have your skin, and you’ll walk away. It’s when you hit hard, the road or barrier or worse a tree or windscreen of a 🚗 😢, that’s when you gonna hurt yourself. You can still walk away, but your gonna be sore, I think you should be aware that you can come off at any time, but this doubt, may also keep you safe, the over take you should not do, the car driver who does not see and will never see you coming, so on the breaks, anticipate these muppets. Top quality gear, no shorts 🩳 T-shirt 👕 ever. I could go on 😊 its freedom beyond compare and you should learn and be as safe as you can be in this bonkers world full of deer and loony drivers, slippy roads with oil and holes you can swim in 😂 it’s motorcycling what are you gonna do 😊

I’m 74, and I’m not too old to ride. I’m too young for ham radio though. All you need to do at any age is get off the couch, put on your gear, and mount up. Don’t forget to close the garage door.

I’m 55 and been riding consistently for 40yrs. I’m one of those people who can legitimately say that riding saved my life. My life would have been less had I not ridden. I ride largely off road and adventure travel on a 1090R and 300 XCW. I see a day when I won’t be able to ride the big bikes. I also see a day when I’ll be thrilled to carry around a little TW 200 or Honda Trail 125 on a trailer. I’ve been a 1st responder for over 30yrs. I’ve seen the horror stories. Motorcycles were born out of rebellion. I still see it that way. I don’t necessarily ride for comfort. I ride to test myself. To cut away the social safety net. Self reliance. Independence. Resiliency. I ride solo exclusively. How far deep into the forest can I go? How remote can I get? Do I have the skills? The strength? The nerve? Always say YES. Bring it on. ❤

The short answer is no. Motorcycling is the only thing I truly enjoy. After 38 years of riding thousands of miles and a few bumps, broken bones and bruises along the way; There is nothing that will stop me from riding. At least until I'm six feet under. It's mind over matter...I don't mind, because it doesn't matter. 😎

After about 35 years of riding last year a tire blowout finally took me down at 70mph. I had decent riding gear so no road rash to speak of but the handlebar caught me in the chest causing some significant damage. Doc said if I hit any harder I would have died on the side of the road. Spent some time in the hospital and about 5 months recovering. I repaired the bike before I even recovered from my injuries. Spent a couple hrs on the floor after replacing the wheel because I realized I was to badly hurt to get back up. Lol I am back to riding regularly but I tend to take the bike with tubeless tires because the spoked wheels are more prone to catastrophic blowouts. Plus I think twice about the interstate and sustained high speed travel. I still get on the interstate but always with a nagging thought of what happened. I assume I will get passed it someday.

Bug, thanks for these sublime videos. What to say? At 70 I still get that stress relief of swinging a leg. Two family members have died on bikes, but I ride on. Resilience? Yes. Determination? Yes, including a move from TX to PA, very different roads, and cataract surgery on both eyes, selling my MV and buying an Aprilia, lowering the Ape, and on. Yesterday I got lost in the Amish farm country. Just beautiful, and my Garmin brought me home happy and tired. Man, I wish our roads were as not congested as yours. Ride well and often.

Thank you for this great video and your philosophy, I am 74 and just sold my HD Electraglide ultra limited 3 wheels ago, thinking it was over for me, but I find myself looking for another bike allready, HD is not for me, I come from Goldwing 1800 and Will try To get a fjr1300 or bm rt1200 since they are lighter the roads here are criminaly in bad shape, enough to make you qwit riding, but thank's to your video, it will be "ride on" my friend.

I've been riding since I was 15 but took a break after my thirties. Went through divorce in 2019 and my tension was through the roof. Got a new motorcycle and even got a second one a couple of years ago. It changed my life and now I put on about 10k a year on my two bikes. Next month I turn 59. I'm not happy about it. So I'm just going to plan more rides. The world is also getting crazier so all the more reason to keep riding. Take care brothers!

I appreciate what you're saying. From my own experience I'll offer that some people have PTSD after a traumatic incident and some don't. And you won't know how you will react until it happens. Anything before that is just a guess no matter what your life experience has been. You feel the same feeling you had when you had the accident. I get that still. I went down on a BMW in a low speed intersection crash. A twisted my right knee very badly and took a 6-month recovery and it is still weak 10 years later. I would lay in bed watching bike videos and whenever someone would lean into a curve I would get a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, the same feeling I had as I was going down. I sold my bike while still recovering. I regret that. But I also haven't riden since. I still get a little bit of that queasy feeling if I think of laying it over. It's not a fear of death or even really a fear of injury though it was a real hard time in recovery, a lot of pain and a lot of work. I'm still thinking about riding again. Still thinking.

I'll be 69 soon and haven't ridden since I went down in an intersection on my BMW k75, the day after I bought it. I tore everything in my right knee except my ACL with a patella fracture. 6 weeks pretty much in bed and 3 months of PT... Helped me escape surgery. Answered prayers I know. It was pretty much the last straw for my wife who left me about a year later in the spring of 2016. I watch a lot of videos of riders. I didn't get any time in on the BMW, but I bought it because I had missed all the riding I did in the '90s...a Suzuki GSE 750. So what you're saying really hits home, not only about riding but about all the things you mention that come with aging and those sort of thoughts. I browse Facebook marketplace and other ads, pricing bikes. I'm on a fixed income so it's hard to pull the trigger but I haven't given it up just yet. I know what my family would say. Are you crazy? Maybe, maybe. But I was that way before I got old. By the way... I'm caring for my mother at the moment. Should be 90 in a couple weeks and still getting around. Riding would give me some respite, I know, but it would really worry her too. We'll see how this story plays out. Liked and subbed.
