Just ordered the Military 2 in S110V. The scratches on your blade look like they are from the Ken Onion Sharpmaker. If you don't clean the angle guide, it gets grit on it and scratches up your blade. PITA to keep it clean. I only use it for convex blades now because of this. Sharpmaker works fine for most of my needs. This steel isn't very tough, so I will hopefully enjoy the edge retention and not beat it. It's probably going to be cutting food and envelopes mostly.

why would you use a rifle for CQB? there's something called handguns my dude. and if u like the ergonomics of the rifle just get a shotgun...the tool of a rifle is to be able to hit a target from a far distance not 10 yards away,

And another guy who just talks nonsense on KZfaq. Firstly, the procedure for welding a threaded rod is used by many knife makers. Secondly, the knife shown is designed by Gil Hibben and manufactured in small numbers, but most were mass-produced in China under license from United Cuttlery. That means that it is a replica of a Gil Hibben knife. I've been using the so-called Gil Hiben Highlander Bowie for 32 years, as seen in Natural Born Killers, and I can't complain about its flawless functionality over the long period of time. So before you badmouth someone in a video, get the right information.

I had the same experience, not very sharp, chips easy... a truly terrible knife for people that actually use it. My $35 Gerber paraframe is significantly better than this garbage knife. It's in better shape after 5 years than this benchmade after 2 months of light usage.

I have a Bowie knife over $450.00 and I wouldn't use it for clearing brush or batoning logs for firewood . I would use a Maul or Axe or Hatchet . For close up and personal conflicts I know my knife is ready for action and will get the job done . God forbid me getting in a situation like that ! Clearing brush I would use my Machete . Yes I have cheap crappy knives too . 😊

That knife isn't the real thing. It is meant to be collected and not used. They go for ~$140 new. It is a prop/memorabilia reproduction. It is not to say that it isn't a cool piece to display, just not meant for cutting down trees and other normal things. Gil Hibbins designed the Rambo III knife. Believe it or not, you can still buy a quality Jimmy Lile Rambo I and II reproduction knife that is actually meant to be used. They go for $2k+, but at the end of the day, that is what was really used in the films. The knife you have was made just to give fans and collectors a taste of the look and feel of the real thing, just not the functionality.

That's not your everyday kitchen knife. That's a Rambo knife. A killing tool. Nothing more.. if you find it hard to sharpen the blade, it doesn't mean it's a bad kind of steel. You just don't know how to sharpen knives. If you're still using a whetstone, well this isn't the stone age anymore. Get yourself a belt sander to shArpen yours

I also need to correct you with some FACTS. For a start, Stallone had collected many of Gil Hibben's HANDMADE knives for years, before he approached Gil Hibben, to make the Rambo III knife back in 1986, for the movie. Stallone wanted the blade to look like Gil Hibben's Coffin Handle Bowie. With some twoing and throwing, between Gil Hibben and Stallone, they came up with the handle shape that we all know today. You have incorrectly stated that the knife you are showing is one of Gil Hibben's handmade knives, which is incorrect. Gil Hibben, allowed United Cutlery to make a slightly scaled down mass produced copy, so that the fans of the movie, who couldn't afford a hand made knife could have one. These mass produced factory made knives were NEVER intended to be manufactured for hard use, and were manufactured for display purposes, or for light use. The craftsmanship and materials that Gil Hibben uses for his handmade version, will take a lot of hard use, but everything has a breaking point! You can purchase a set of Snap-On tools, but if you abuse the hell out of them, they will eventually break and fail, that is common sense. Gil Hibben has made handmade knives for over 40 years, and has been recognised and given many awards, for his craft. Here is an analogy for you, I could go out tomorrow and buy a cheap knock-off Rolex watch, and a few weeks or months later, the internals will stop working, or the strap will break! A more expensive original Rolex however, is made by professionals, with top of the range materials, and should last a lifetime, if however, something fails, which is not due to abuse, it will be covered on the lifetime warranty.... So you get what you pay for I am afraid....You buy a mass produced factory replica from a flea market, that is solely intended for display purposes, do not expect it to hold up, like a handmade knife would....

As many here rightfully have commented jimmy Lile designed and made the knives for the first two rambo movies. For the 3rd movie Sylvester Stallone, as also mentioned in previous comments, wanted something different. And here's where I'm not really sure about what actually happened but I was told that mr Stallone first went to Bill Moran and wanted him make him a st23 knife which I believe was a design mr Moran made as early as in the 60s. Mr Stallone apparently wanted mr Moran to make him the knife for free since the knife would be featured in the movie thus making it and and for most it's maker famous which mr Stallone maybe thought would sufficient pay for the knife. So when mr Moran declined the offer Stallone went to Gil Hibben asking him to make a knife for him which mr Hibben also did copying Bill Moran's st23 design. That's why the rambo 3 knife looks the way it does and if laid side by side with the st23 anyone should see that it in fact is a straight out copy of mr Moran's design. This is how the story was told to me, or at least how I remember it, 30 years ago when I went to the ABS Bill Moran school of bladesmiting in Arkansas. Since I haven't read all the comments I don't know if someone already brought this to attention but I definitely think it should.

Sorry, but this is incorrect.....Stallone went to Jimmy Lile after Moran and that was the beginning of the First Blood Knife. Moran had nothing to do with the Rambo III knife....As I formally mentioned, it was Gil Hibben's Coffin Handle Bowie Stallone wanted modified, for the Rambo III movie knife...Stallone wanted a "slot" not a huge oval, that Jimmy did as a prototype. I think you are referring to the Hibben "Arizona Bowie', that was never used in the film, it was actually made for Last Blood, which was never used.....Some people who are ill-informed wrongly stating that the Hibben 'Arizona Bowie' is a copy of a Moran knife. Stallone went to Moran first, THEN, Jimmy Lile and that was the birth of the First Blood Knife....Gil Hibben wasn't even involved until late 1986 AFTER Stallone rejected Jimmy Lile's oval slot Bowie. Stallone then approached Gil Hibben, as he wanted to use Gil Hibben's Coffin Handle Bowie blade for the Rambo III knife. I hope this has dispelled some of the incorrect information that is doing the rounds on the internet? Did you ever try and contact Hibben Knives to verify the facts first? IF you had, Linda Hibben, would have been more than happy to give you the facts, as the Hibben family are very approachable, and will ALWAYS find time to reply to your questions. :)

Might shoot okay, might look good new. But these rifles eat themselves to death. Sub par components don't give these guns the longevity they should have as AK's. 2k rounds is NOT a lot... Idk who needs to hear this... but the fact is this gun was manufactured for people who don't shoot. Its a looker. Its a wall gun. That's about the end of it lol. Even if your good at keeping your guns in good shape, putting a serious round count on these rifles your gonna see that by 5k rounds IF it makes it that far, which btw 5k rounds is NOT a lot of rounds either, your gun is going to fall apart or become dangerous before something like a zpap or hell even a PSA GF3 AK. These are not military quality guns. Nd that is reflected by the price obviously lol. I mean it is what it is. A lot of the people who swear by these guns are not serious shooters. They dont put the kind of round counts in that will kill these guns anyways. and that's fine if you want that. But if push ever comes to shove, and shtf in our country that rifle is gonna fail you WAY before a proper ak will. Same thing with the VSKA. I don't care to hear peoples stories of putting 2k rounds through it and its fine. 2k rounds is nothing. 5k rounds is bare minimum. And i know damn good and well anyone saying they've shot 10k rounds through a RAs47 or a VSKA is lying their asses off. Simple as that.
