First thing to do in an emergency is never checklist and I couldn't imagine a DPE would ever want to hear that. First aviate (fly the plane) example: engine out pitch for best glide, Second navigate ex: Look for a place to land if needed, 3rd communicate ex: declare emergency to ATC, then finally pull out a checklist IF and only if practical. I would ask: What if you rotate and have an engine out before reaching pattern altitude? With runway infront of you? Without runway in front of you? Do you think a checklist will ever be practical? Probably not, you have a lot of aviating and navigating to do quick fast and in a hurry particularly if you are in a highly populated area.

For anyone who writes these down, double-check all of them with FAA approved books. Make sure you don't practice them wrong. Don't get me wrong, this is a good way to practice.

I did about 50 hours on Microsoft flight simulator at home before I started pilot training. I purchased all the simulator controls. On my first discovery flight, I landed the plane. Anyone that wants to get started I recommend to do the simulator at home for at least 50 hours and get your medical certificate first before anything. The SIM helped me a ton! Iwent to my second flight already knowing VOR navigation. The SIM was huge for me. I still use it at least once a week.

Good videos! I recorded all my flights thus far. Then I’m just gonna upload one per week after I get my PPL. I have 2 GoPros with cockpit audio. One on the outside under the left wing pointed at the fuse which catches me and catches the tires on landing. Another one is mounted in the inside in every flight. Cessna 172.

I know that I’m gonna have the jitters, but I have to get it out the way to get this PPL and then take my mother and my wife flying! And maybe some of my friends lol … I am trying to do my check ride right after I clock my 40 so these last 10 hours have to be specific I think.

16:30 Empty weight needs clarification with usable or unusable fuel.
@irubengulerАй бұрын
Useable
@christianlogsdon648318 күн бұрын
I had the same thought. I believe there is standard empty weight which is empty weight is the weight of an empty airplane including unusable fuel, full operating fluids (hydraulic fluids) and full engine oil and basic empty weight which includes option equipment. Neither of these include useable fuel. Useable fuel counts against your useful load which is why my CFI and I can only take 17 gallons in the C150 lol. Got this straight from my POH. Thanks for this video. Super helpful as I prepare for my own checkride!

Guys, Just did my first night flight! Aprox 2.5 hrs. 8 full stop landings. 3 different airports. It was awesome! I will try to upload a cockpit video clip of it by Sunday. (if not today) The next flight; night x country and then I’m done with the night stuff. Then day time x country; some solos, and check ride. So far I’m about 30hrs in. This stuff is exciting! Happy and safe flying!

The way I like to remember 91.205 ATOMATOFLAMES is: Things that will help the airplane fly: 1. Airspeed Indicator 2. Altimeter 3. Tachometer 4. Magnetic Compass 5. Manifold Pressure Gauge Things that will keep the airplane safe: 1. Oil Pressure Gauge 2. Oil Temp Gauge 3. Temp Gauge 4. Fuel Gauge 5. Landing Gear Position indicator Things that will keep the Passengers and I safe: 1. ELT 2. Seat Belts 3. Anti Collision Lights “Keep the blue side up”

Just to add on a bit for clearing turns (how to clear an area for traffic). Remember to do your clearing turns to the left first, because aircraft overtake to the right of you and you wouldn’t want to turn into an aircraft overtaking you. Good luck on that checkride!
