Hungarian nation was formed as a political nation not based on a single ethnicity in a Kingdom of Hungary. Magayrs had then stolen this latin word (Natio Ungarica) and in 19. century they just proclaimed Natio Ungarica to be just Magyar one. Kingdom of Hungary was multi-national from a very beginning, Royal Hungary was the feudal state formed on a territory where only Slovaks were living after occupation of majority of the lands by Ottomans. Bratislava and Košice were never Magyar cities, they were mostly German and Slovak ones. So Slovaks are the same successors of Kingdom of Hungary as Magyars or other nationalities living in a former Kingdom. You are welcome.
