The whole point was the destruction, one by one, of his mantra. He became empathetic, he did jobs he wasn’t paid for, he trusted the billionaire. Every one of his principles disappeared. In becoming one of the many, he became someone who cared. Watch it again.

Not only was it impossible to believe how the kids escaped town so easily, but I also love how when Jeremy Renner immediately sees and reports the two kids when they snuck out of town, all the soldiers decide to sit back and let them explore the town and even visit their old house before they finally stop them and tell them to go home. 🙄 Oh, and the dad-who clearly wasn't any sort of government official with top levels of security clearance-had a magical key card that could open any part of the high-security facility. This was one of those movies where the opening scene was the only really good part. Too bad they didn't take just a bit more care to clean up the plot a little. It could have easily been a much stronger movie than it was. ETA: i guess i didn't even need to make this comment, since the hosts covered all the same complaints that i paused the video to make. 😆

'Johnny Got His Gun' is ridiculous, propaganda clap-trap. But it should be a reminder that Stalin and the Soviet Union were allies with Hitler and Germany in the beginning of the war. Dalton Trumbo (a communist) wrote it and was serialized in the Daily Worker and then published in September of 1939 - when Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland - and was written specifically to keep America out of WWII. The Daily Worker tried to destroy all copies and J.B. Lippincott withdrew it from publication when Germany invaded the Soviet Union. It was then Stalin ordered the Comintern to instruct CPUSA to do a 180 and support U.S. entry into the war, so they did an about-face.

Is anybody else laughing that a Brit is making a commentarty on how our American D.I.'s are "cruel and unfair"? Well, it may not be the case anymore with Gen Z, but you'd be speaking German right now if our military hadn't been as badass way back in the day. But it's gotten cushier since WWII, sadly.

There's an image onscreen for a split second during the bombing, with a person burning alive... only when rewatching the scene did I realize it's most likely an ET animated toy. It's not visible for long enough to realize what it is so all your eyes have time to register is a twitching burning body that looks distorted. Absolutely brilliant choice.

People talk about a Serbian film etc as being the 'most disturbing film ever made' Threads blows them out of the water. This was released at a time where nuclear war was very much a possibility, the paranoia and sleepless nights this film caused people is immeasurable. Fantastic video

While there are many great scenes, one that seems to be overlooked is the one from the museum. You know things will get worse and it's inevitable when people move all the art to a safe location, in the hopes of trying to preserve it. It's a bone chilling scene. You just now they wouldn't bother with such things unless the danger is real. The implications seem so real and upsetting. "This is it, it's happening, prepare for the worst"

Exactly how I felt... the quiz show format initially didn't provide enough entertainment. I wanted to skip to the end, but at the same time didn't want to miss any potential 'events'. I do prefer Steve and Reece to be in them as well. Their performances are always great value.

Seems to me, the clones represent staying together in the toxic relationship for the child, only a shell of their former selves becoming despondent of the boy until he's accidentally killed as if staying together never would have helped the situation. As for being wanted and killed, feel like it's them trying again on to lose themselves in the process, hence the clones after

Watched this movie a couple of days ago. It was, without a doubt, the most intense and disturbing movie ive ever watched. I think it was intended, but the screams when the nuke goes out had me dumbfounded (I wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be the high pitched winds due to the bomb)

I had seen The Day After back in the 80’s and I was too afraid to watch Threads. It took me years to muster up the courage to watch Threads. At 38 yrs old, age made no difference and I was terrified. The War Game 1966, another BBC film was also bleak beyond oblivion. The Brit’s don’t pull any punches.
