Hey Creed :). Yes those blocks have been created by Clem and implemented by Yck, so see that as new features. Darker blocks give you a jump as soon as you make contact with them. As for the flag, it becomes a square when you set the quality to low, it's to reduce lag even further (less animation = less rendering). As many other games it's hard when you dive into harder levels, but the basic mechanics are pretty simple : run and jump. The speedrunning nature of the game really depends on your playstyle, nothing prevents you from playing levels casually as you'd do on any other platformer game.
