Is there oil in the dampeners? The pieces in between the flexible steel two piece dampers they are shaped like cones with a hole drilled at the outer edge...what is it called? Are those aformentioned piece fit in or part of the "outer race" for lack of better term?

Hello @jlgoose8078 Thank you for your comment. Every Geislinger steel spring damper is supplied with oil so that there is oil pressure in the damper during operation. The component described is an "intermediate piece" that separates the spring packs from each other. The intermediate pieces and the outer clamping ring are separate components. I hope that answers your questions? Let me know if you need more information or visit our website at geislinger.com.

The biggest issue is whether or not site locations have low level wind shear occur across the area of the blade rotation. If the answer is yes, then the blade moving through the slow or dead air is the biggest culprit in making noise. (It's pushing air rather than being pushed by air, and it is not designed for that.) It's tricky because the phenomena varies on a site-by-site basis. Some locations practically never have it happen, others it may be seasonal (prevailing winds changing direction and interacting with landscape features) or even frequent. That is why there are differing arguments over whether this form of clean energy generation makes for a good neighbor. Although it's good to try and address the general low level noise with expected operation, there are conditions for potential blade noise that would have to be looked at with long term surveys and modeling in planned locations. And that is a more challenging problem to solve.

What's your point? There are many noise source on a wind turbine and aerodynamic noise from the blade is mostly dominating. Still this technology focuses on the reduction of tonal noise from the drivetrain. Do you think all the local building codes in many countries, that put a high penalty on such humming or whistling sounds, are wrong?

The engine they're showing is definitely an MTU engine. The intakes and intercooler are reminiscent of the 16V4000, and the crankshaft has a 1-8-2-6-4-5-3-7 crank throw arrangement, which is the same as on MTU 90° V16 engines (built up from two mirror-image crossplane V8 cranks). The firing order, if we use standard automotive numbering conventions (cylinders numbered from the front backwards along with the standard definitions of "left" and "right"), is 1R 7L 1L 6R 4R 6L 4L 7R 3L 8R 2R 8L 2L 5R 3R 5L.

@@clementr thats not what i really mean. Yes, abs esp and lot of other things. But look at the concept cars. This is the way lot of cars should be build. Why are the manufacturers build these when you cant buy them later.
