These tiny screws are probably not Philips, but - JIS type. (Japanese Industry Standard) Meaning that although Philips drivers might sort-of turn them they'll also cause some screwhead damage.. JIS is a crosshead type looking superficially like Philips - but are NOT. They are used on many small appliances in Japanese factories. BTW, a bit surprised to see this demo video showing no body cap in place - all too easy to get bits of lint etc inside the Lightbox where the mirror lives, which could easily eventually show up as dark spots on your sensor, which then needs cleaned - I never have a lens mount uncapped - and haven't needed to clean a sensor in like 15 years of DSLR use since this happened with my first DSLR - it's a safer policy all round.

worked great for me! there was one weird bit where you have to put the bottom on before the front. but all in all great tutorial and i'm so happy my camera doesn't suck to use any more!

Changed it, and working. But the LCD is blank. Won't seem to come on. Anyone have a similar issue? Checked buses(one was loose first time), but they seem OK.

My old Mark IV isn’t worth sending in to Canon. This was actually pretty easy. I’m sure a few screws got swapped around and in the wrong place. But it works just fine. Thanks for the video. Would not attempt it without it!

this might happen because the buses aren't tight enough. check them all again carefully. also, pay attention that there are two buses one on top of another that you should put back. when I assembled it for the first time, the second bus bends and kinda disappear so I decided that there is only one. rewatched the video and found out that there should be another. and to put it in place you have to watch them both while you put the top back.

After months of hesitation I took the plunge. Great tutorial, Thanks! To answer (my and) others questions, I used a #00 Phillips -- start with a NEW, good quality screwdriver! Some of the screws, notably on the bottom appear to have loctite or other thread-locker compound on them, and require care not to strip the heads. The rubber grips are indeed reusable, just clean the camera surfaces with alcohol before re-applying. There are 40 screws of different threads and lengths, so good organization is key!

Thank you!!! I followed your video and everything works great again. I was able to bypass removing the white wire and work the disassembly with it connected. My only problem is the black screws... I stripped 2 and had to resort to some primitive methods to get them removed. My recommendation is have a good tool set. Mine was a cheap $25 kit off Amazon.. All said, it works perfect!

John….how do the rubber surfaces get re-attached to the body? Do they stick on their own, do you need to apply adhesive ( if so, what type), or do you need to purchase replacement surfaces. Very impressive piece of work. I am going to give it a shot but warily. Thanks

Awesome video...wish I had the guts to try this out. So sad that the shutter wheel is so hard to replace. I got a quote from Canon to do it and it was $420. The part itself is like $20.

Can you reuse the rubber grip or do you need to replace them? Where can you purchase new ones if you cannot reuse them?

Brilliant stuff Mate. Well laid out steps. In my case I need to replace the bottom pcb and am wondering how much of your steps I should follow. Do you think it's easier once I separate the back cover from the main board? I wish I had the courage like yours. Just wondering if I could give it a go. The quotation I got from the service center is ridiculous £430.00 I got the new part and just need the courage. Well done and thank you for your video. It really did cover much of the steps and will certainly follow it. Really Appreciate🙏🙏🙏
