Whatever Mahdervan got from Sultan Selim was only because Sultana Hurrem had asked him to do so.

Ottomans fail to qualify as a turkic kingdom, because they don't have traditional elements of previous turkic empires. Ottomans reflect more Persian and Arabic elements.

The idea of a "Western" Roman Empire and a "Eastern" Roman Empire is a misnomer born from modern historiographical terminology. The Empire was never split in two. The administration was made into four emperors with a senior emperor, usually in the East, over all. It was still one empire. There was never a Byzantine Empire. "Byzantine" is a derogatory term used by 18th century German scholars in an attempt to legitimize the Holy Roman Empire. The "Byzantine" Empire was the Roman Empire. The same Empire that murdered Jesus Christ, that suffered from the gothic invaders, that endured the crisis of the 3rd century, was the empire that fell in 1453. It was not the successor to the Roman Empire. It was the Roman Empire. The last Roman Emperor died 571 years ago today. His name was Constantine XI.

It is not "succession" but a certain definitive TITLE, namely - "Imperator Romanorum" (Latin)/"Basileus Romaion" (Greek)/"Kaiseri ar-Rum" (Arabic and in German similar - "Roman Kaiser"). Since 4 century A.D. capital city of Empire, place of Roman Senate and seat of Roman Emperor was "Roma Nova" / Constantinople. After Ottomans eventually crushed Roman Empire you can think that Sultan's claim to title of Roman Emperor is debatable - but IT IS NOT, I will explain why: 1. It was the Patriarch who offically annointed new Emperor and since fall of Constantinople Orthodox Patriarch always recognized Sultans as Roman Emperors. 2. There was since Charlemagne/Karl the Great another Emperor, and it was the source of great rivalry between German speaking Holy Roman Emperors and Greek speeking Roman Emperors, Basileus Romaion. THEN, Holy Roman Emperor, the only another claim to title - officially gave up his claim to be Emperor, and officially recognized Suleyman the Magnificent as the ONLY Roman Emperor - treaty was signed by ex-Emperor himself and Great Vizier - as equal to his diplomatic rank. So even if there was little room not to recognize Muhammad Fatih (Mehmed the Conqueror), but since Suleyman topic become undebatable

it would have been interesting after James the 5 of Scotland first wife died he decided to marry Mihrimah Sultan for a year in 1538 they have a daughter but then he is forced to annulled the marriage his daughter and Mihrimah Sultan leave Scotland and go back to Turkey and James the 5 marries Marie de guise and have Mary queen of Scots and Mihrimah Sultan remarried to Rüstem Pasha and everything goes as how history follows today and she has two kids with him in Turkey so she would have three children one daughter with James the 5 and the other two children one daughter and one son from Rustem Pasha but it couldn’t happen since she was none white but they both have a similar personality I could see them as a good couple don’t think Henry the 8 would be happy with the title of six wives lol

Thank you for your comment. The video does not talk about Greece as a country but Greeks as an ethnic group. (The word Greece is not used). The Greeks or Hellenes are an ethnic group and nation native to Greece, Cyprus, southern Albania, Anatolia, parts of Italy and Egypt, and to a lesser extent, other countries surrounding the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea.

As an American this makes me very sad that he considered escaping to America. I feel like if he had been able to do that he might have lived longer. Until recently I never knew just how great Napoleon was. Once when I was a teenager I heard him referred to as the greatest general who ever lived. Thought it was probably an overstatement at the time. Anyways, a man like him was sure to die after being confined to an island in the middle of the ocean. In America he might have occupied a place in our armed forces second only to commander in chief. He might have went on to be like a Douglas MacArthur of his time or something in that respect. Or he probably could have retired from commanding and entered politics or something, achieving moderate success and finding contentment in it, being the kind of man he was. I think he understood that he could never become any kind of life long ruler in the U.S.A., and the fact that he considered escaping here shows a great deal about his character. Most men of his caliber, which there haven't been very many of throughout history, would never have been able to move on to a "lesser role" after having achieved so much. Maybe that's just my thinking though and I've actually got it backwards.
