Thank you for all your wonderful insights. Yes, though Edward argued to the contrary, he was an amazing teacher. I mean, if he could teach me how to play one decent tapping riff, he had the patience to teach anybody. I honestly can't remember what type of gear. He was playing my Strat but I can't remember anything else. The stops and starts are unavoidable.

As much of a treat as this is for the listener, what a gift of a moment for Steve, and a wonderful example of the generosity of Ed's spirit. No star-trip. No ego. Just pure humility and generosity. Edward, man.

That was awesome Steve! I’ll look into the full video. Hey, I wanted to ask, what guitar and amp, and effects, did you have set up there at your place when you and Ed were playing? Crazy how Ed always sounds like him. But that really was a great tone you had dialed in also.

@heyjarrod. Recently we spoke in the comments section of the Joe Rogan KZfaq video on DLR…..You said the things I mentioned that DLR said to Edward were things DLR ‘probably never said’….The person you need to talk to about that is Steve. He interviewed Edward more extensively than practically anybody else at times when Ed was having problems with Roth not just in 1985 /1986 at the time of the first break up but also in 1996 when DLR tried to threaten Edward about mentioning his hip operation at press conferences. Steve knows better than anybody what went down. Listen to Steve’s tapes also from 1986 talking to Ed and what Alex was saying to him in 1985. (Paul)

The person that really needs to reach out to Steve though is WOLFGANG….His Father confided so extensively with Steve down the decades that Steve would have many lovely stories about him for Wolfgang and insights which would really put his own memories of his Dad into context…Even if Ed and Steve had a break up at the start of the 21st century because of things Ed had gone through I believe that Steve didn’t just respect Edward but he loved him as a human being and would want to help and support his son Wolfgang in any way possible. (Paul)

@@heyjarrod Well, listen to the tapes. From the inflection in Ed’s voice I don’t believe Ed was lying to Steve. And more recently Mr. Roth has been especially cruel to Wolfgang and his mother now that Edward is no longer here to defend them. I think that Mr. Roth always craved attention and would do anything to attain it and keep it. Even if it does much psychological harm to others. And now that he is slipping from the limelight he seems to have gone worse than ever. And he don’t take prisoners. Or stops to count the cost. (Paul)

Its kind of like the Amadeus vibe when he adds to Salieri's little march. Anybody's outside perspective can open a window into other possibility's the creator might never have thought of & when it's a guy like Eddie that is so respected that just goes to another level. Your a blessed guy Steve & we're all blessed that you've shared so much with us. I love inside dope.

When Edward was talking about Wolfgang teaching himself to play Ed would say that he never had the patience to be a good teacher himself (like his Father Jan) but when one listens to THIS Steve he DOESN’T sound like that here. He sounds like he was really engaging with you to offer a great deal of constructive suggestions…Your music was a CONTEXT that he could FEEL and the ideas started coming off him like sparks off a Catherine Wheel. You were like a catalyst for him. You gave him inspiring CONTEXT and you cranked him up and set him going ! …and in the words of the the Rolling Stones -‘You start him up He’ll NEVER stop’ ! …and it was so wild and free and fitting…And the melodies fit so well. Ed could improvise better than most players could write….❤🎉🎉🎉🎉. Thanks for these gems and historical snapshots….(Paul)
