Thank you for an interesting and quite informative comparison. Both sound good and both have a very similar tonal character. The Les Paul has a slightly deeper sound, rounder highs, and more lows, but you'll still cut them off on the recording. Flying V has more of an in-your-face sound, a little less depth, but it's a more open sound. Low frequencies are more distinct, without unnecessary booming. It seems to me that if you compare it with the SG, there will be no differences in sound. Considering the similarity of the sound characteristics of these guitars, it is quite possible to turn one into the other by equalization, and no one will be able to tell them apart on the recording. The rest of the difference is the look and feel when playing these guitars.

Closed my eyes before you started playing them -- it was very easy to hear the twang of the Tele bridge pickup. Knew immediately that you started with the Tele. I was surprised that the P90s on the Les Paul weren't a bit hotter, though. Maybe the height is a bit lower than what I'm used to hearing? Anyway -- thanks for the comparison. Been looking at buying either a LPS or a Tele, and I was looking for a video that compared them back-to-back like this.

I agree with you... I offloaded 2 Eastmans that were 'better' guitars and replaced them with Gibson's...The Eastman's are modeled after Gibson's and that makes the Gibson's more desirable. The Gibson's are more rock and roll, although less polished feeling than the Eastman's....That being said for the price, I'm gassing for another Eastman but I am done replacing my Gibsons for the Eastman's.

yikes. that Eastman SB55tv costs more in US dollars than the Gibson LP Special costs in Canadian.

You should try to find a 24 3/4" scale MIJ Fender. I have a 1985 Squier ST-331 that has it and it feels and sounds awesome.

i felt the same way... I love my Teles. Yes witn "s". 4 in all - 90s Squier Standard, CV 70s Thinline, American Acoustasonic, and Vintage V59 im distressed Sunburst. Love them all. But wanted something different. Ended up going with the Gretsch Junior Jet P90. Looks stunning.

I cut out that chart and keep it in my guitar case. I have this, a fender gtx 100 and a Bose S1 Pro and I play the mustang micro 95% of the time. My acoustic also sounds great using it. Friggin love it and it’s been 3 years or so

Cheap junk guitars.

Les Paul if you want a bomb that will leave a hole on the ground. V if you want an arrow that will travel farther.

No need to spend all that money on a Gibson. Just buy an Epiphone and change the pickups and tuners and you're good to go. That's what I did and it turned out to be my number 1. The quality control at Epiphone is better anyway Gibson can't even paint a flying V without screwing it up. Many videos about the poor finishes on new V's. One great thing about a Flying V is that you don't need a guitar stand. Just lean it against the wall it stands up all by itself : )

I have two Eastman guitars. After years of buying overpriced and poor quality American Gibson’s I’ve sold them all and gone over to Eastman. Buying Chinese, what about the quality? Here’s the rub, EVEN Gibson are making their top of the range Epiphone’s in China…and they’re mass produced….Eastman are ALL hand made to Custom Shop standard 😎

Congratulations on getting an amazing guitar, and instantly falling in love with it. After some time, you will begin to split your time between the LP Special and the Tele. And then you'll find tunes that are better suited for one or the other, and pick up one or the other based on those decisions. I can't blame you for loving either of them. I will tell you though, I sold my Special because I also have a Junior, and found myself always picking up the Junior. So the Special had to go. I do miss it, but.....every once in a while, I try to be practical. :)
