Wish I would have watched this before before I tried to figure it out on my own as I went along. Now I got Niagara falls in the front of motor. I got two quarts of oil sitting in my cross member

Some of the pans and timing covers are shaped different, especially the ones with 2-piece timing covers.

How do you keep the intake looking like new? I have a rebuilt FI unit and needing tips to keep it nice! Thanks

To get it looking new you need to drench in wd-40, and scrub with Brass wire brush. Then degrease it well. Then hit it with aluminum cleaning acid mix. Muratic acid and water can work. Or get some alumna-bright, aluminum acid cleaner used to clean big rig wheels and tanks. Spray on, and brush lightly with plastic brush. Hose off within 20 seconds. Keep hitting the aluminum with the acid mix till you get an even finish. If you leave it on too long, it can turn a bit dark on you. Rince really well and blow dry. Clean gasket surface with brake clean and install. Once installed, hit the intake lightly with silicone spray, wipe it in. Clean porous aluminum will stain easily, but if the pores are already clogged with silicone spray, well there you go! Also, spray down your carb base gasket with the same spray. Turns them into not stick!
