Very lovely pattern! The fringe yarn, though, should probably start off with a piece 3"-3.5" long to make it easier to work with. I tried 2" & there's no way you can fit your fingers in to pull the yarn through. I was able to use a crochet hook to pull them through with a bit of difficulty, but, I recommend 3" at least. Thanks for sharing this! It's a very nice look! It's lovely with changing colors yarn, too! Gives it a bit of a tie-dye or hippie look. 😄

I was following your written pattern on your site, and I just finished round 2 and came to check your video if i was doing it right. On here, you put your stitches on the back loop only, but it didn't say that on your written pattern on the site unless i comepletely missed it? Is it ok not do it on the back loop? Thank you!!
@JewelsandJones
@JewelsandJones 4 күн бұрын
Hi there, yes, it's totally ok not to work it in the back loop. For this pattern, you can work it in both loops or just the back loop. It's a very textured stitch, so both ways work. Thank you for pointing that out as well, all go ahead and make a note of it for others. 😊

Which corner should I start the border? Does it matter or no?
@JewelsandJones
@JewelsandJones 4 күн бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your question. So it really doesn't matter what corner you start on when making a border. I always like starting on top because the stitches are easier to find, but you can easily work the side corner first as well. 😊

Thanks a million for this great tutorial! Extremely helpful! I have done only one modification; I found that my turning points tended to be a bit bulky, marring the looks of the side containing the turning point. So, from row 3 and onwards, I omit the last chain before joining with the slip stitch. For me, the slip stitch in itself provides enough of a "chain space" for the first SC after turning. Admittedly, it is a bit tighter than the regular chain spaces, but the look of the side containing the turning point is very much improved.
@JewelsandJones

You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful. 😊 Thank you for the tip as well, I'm going to try it out after the third row. I know exactly what you mean when you see the chain + slip stitch on the side, so I'm curious to see if it will almost look invisible when joining.

Does the chain 3 count as a DC? You insert the hook in the first stitch and not in the second? When I do this my blanket is turning round at the sides.
@JewelsandJones
@JewelsandJones 19 күн бұрын
Hi there, chain 3 does not count as a double crochet stitch. You want to make your double crochet in the last stitch. So you're going to place it in the last single crochet from the previous row. The last stitch can sometimes be a little hard to see, because it's almost on the outer edge. I would put a stitch marker on the last stitch (sc) and this way it's easier to see when you're making your double crochet rows. I hope this helps! 😊
@angylsurfr
@angylsurfr 22 күн бұрын
Thanks for another easy to follow tutorial!! How do you keep the rows so even? I started and even after 2 rows it's more like a trapezoid shape - the 2nd and subsequent rows are wider than that first chain stitch row. :(
@JewelsandJones
@JewelsandJones 19 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! How is your tension when you crochet? If you crochet a bit tighter, your stitches might budge a little bit. I would maybe try going up a hook size and seeing if that will help loosen up those stitches. I'm naturally a very loose crocheter, so I think that helps when making my stitches. So I would try going up a hook size, I think your rows will come out a bit more even. 😊

@JewelsandJones
@JewelsandJones 26 күн бұрын
Hi there, I would personally make a gauge swatch and see if you need to go up a hook size or go down a hook size (my gauge is listed in the pattern). Yarn weights vary so much, so I would personally make a gauge swatch. This way your blanket also turns out the same as the pattern. 😊

Thank you! Yes, I think it will definitely work. You could always make a little practice swatch of your blanket (4 by 4) and add the border to it to see if you like it. This way if you don't, you can try another border.

Thank you so much for responding. I checked the pattern but my problem is when I get to the last stitch of the rows. So single crochet, chain one and turn at the end of Suzette rows. Chain 4-5 is it double on last stitch and chain 3 and turn and continue with the double crochet in the very first stitch and next 3 rows? My blanket is looking like a cape doing that ☹️
