I've only taken my DJI Avata 2, out a mile & half, & my signal strength was fluctuating between 2 & 3 bars but ive taken my DJI AIR 3, out 5.1/2 miles & still had 4 bars of signal strength, & returned with 30% battery life remaining. I've taken my Mini 4 Pro out 4 miles & still had all bars of signal strength, I only turned around because of birds. I'm wanting to get into traditional Long range fpv, but I need to get on a simulator, & learn Acro.

Wow, 5 1/2 with an air 3? That’s incredible range! Farthest I’ve ever gone was 5, then got sketched out haha. I’ll just say that the consumer products like an air 3 instill a lot more confidence than anything homebuilt! Nothing sketchier than taking something you built out that far, better have ultimate confidence in your building and testing skills 😂

The holes are supposed to be tight in the arms. It helps with resonance which this frame had been tested to have some of the best on the market. If you drill them out you will end up with resonance over time. Others have stated the reason for the hole not present in the top plate for the metal camera as it’s to give more options for different cameras to be used. This was basically designed for the O3 unit. If you watch Bardwells review of this frame a while back you will see the reason behind this. Hope this helps

Thanks for the comment, this does help provide some insight! In my own testing, the Apex has indeed been excellent with resonance, even rivaling the AOS frames I've tried. My problem is more with the alignment and assembly process though, not the hole size. Tight screw holes are fine, but IRC needs to ensure that the alignment is still fine when they tighten up a hole tolerance. Besides my complaints with fit and assembly though, this frame has proven to be pretty solid. Its durable, has excellent resonance characteristics, and has a relatively large build area which aids in repairs.
@nemoishouse
@nemoishouse 10 күн бұрын
@@propabilityfpv most of the Impulse frames are like this which is by design. It always helps to not tighten anything down until the last possible minute. I agree it’s a great frame and I have ordered the parts to make my OG Apex into a Evo. The Reverb was my fav frame until the Apex arrived and before that it was the Alien which set a standard that has been copied so many times in this hobby. I’ve heard good things about the AOS frames but yet to try one

Saw you guys set up around the disc golf basket at west field, thought it was a bit odd. Usually people don't make a pilot line rite there for a number of reasons besides a courteous gesture to allow the disc golfers to be able play through its kinda in the midle of the trees you want to fly. WCT does shut down a couple DG holes for the event but those are at main filed West feild is still an open DG hole as far as i know. Whistlers bend has been a premier course for decades and the DG community has done much of the work to make so many of those areas so nice for flying as well as there foot traffic keeping the trails clear. They use to T off from on top of the water tower for one of the holes before they gated because of people teeing off up there.

Also don't worry about the Karens! In terms of camping, all the camp sites are reserved for WCT, so everyone camping is part of the event. It's just the mysterious disc golfers that show up. One of them was stupid enough to walk out on the race track, and got yelled at to get out of there, so that might have been your Karen

Freestyle Legend. Keep it up bro your killin it!!. I got a question from a 3 month in FPV pilot to a Pro in all realms pilot... you! okay bro I got the Iflight Nazgul Evoque F5 V2 squashed x with the 03 air unit to use for freestyle a few months ago and I regret it so much now because I should have got it in the DeadCat config and added some long range LHCP antennas to match up with my goggle v2's LHCP patches and x2 stubby then get a big ass LI-ION battery for long cinematic flights. Its not the type of drone I should be freestyling as a new pilot to be honest hence the price of it lol... is there a way I can make it a DeadCat for cinematic/ freestyle/ long range? could I just change the arms to DC or would it need a completely different PID tune and if so would there be some sort of dump file somewhere for it if I did just change the arms, would it be worth doing that? I have just bought the BetaFPV Pavo20 and I love it its amazing for slow, hard to get to, tight spaces cinematic cruising but it just hasn't got the range and power I'm looking for for a long range cruiser. As for a freestyle "bando bashing" drone I'm not risking smashing my Nazgul f5 v2 (03) up practicing freestyling it lol so I was thinking of getting something cheaper with something like a Caddx Runam/ vista or some other cheaper option than the 03? I I only own the DJI goggles v2 so I was thinking of either getting all the custom parts and building a freestyle 3 - 5 inch myself although I don't know much about tuning but I know there is a way to get it tuned by using a the Presets tab in Betaflight if I'm right? but what would you recommend for a freestyle ripper considering my knowledge on tuning etc (not that great). should I go with a BNF and if so what one would you recommend? or would you say I would get better results to just buy and build my own with all the best custom parts of my choice?.. :) If you could respond to this comment for me it will be verry VERRY much apricated because I know its a big ass comment to respond to bro!
@propabilityfpv
@propabilityfpv Ай бұрын
Haha thanks for the comment dude! I appreciate the kind words 😃 I’ll certainly try to help you out! So as far as converting your squashed X to deadcat, I’m not sure that would really be worth it unless you have props in view right now and don’t like it. Quads aren’t like planes where each airframe has a very specific specialty, they can do a bunch of different tasks just fine all with one frame. Really the biggest thing you want in a LR or cinematic quad is space to mount a large battery, and an action cam (though O3 is just fine for most daytime footage). Beyond that, you’re still free to put whatever antenna you want on your goggles to adjust the range (patch antennas for longer range, omnis are better for all around coverage). Then if you have a high quality radio link like ELRS or Crossfire, or even DJI, you’ll get more range then you’ll ever need to worry about if you mount the antenna on one of the arms. So that being said, your current squashed x evoque could be just fine for cinematic and long range. As for freestyle, I’d actually recommend somewhere around a 3” with 6S these days to a newer pilot. They’re cheaper, and hit less hard than a 5”. 6S will allow you to use the same batteries too if you decide to upgrade to 5” later! You’re free from there to put an O3 in, or a cheaper digital video option that’ll work with your V2 goggles. I personally have not built a 3” as of right now, so I hesitate to recommend a specific one. I’ll just say that if you buy one with good ratings that sells well from a reputable source, you should be just fine. For tuning, don’t let anyone convince you that you NEED to do it. Most of the time, especially for new pilots, the stock tune is absolutely fine. But if you do want to start messing with tuning, presets are great and there’s many great tutorials on KZfaq! I still fly stock tunes quite often, even for freestyle. You can absolutely rip on a stock tune! It’s not the quad, it’s the pilot. Anyways I really hope this helps! I know all the gear and options are confusing, but just keep in mind the most important things to spend real money on are in this order: 1. High quality radio/rc link 2. High quality video system 3. High quality charger with multiple ports and high power output. These things will grow with you, and you likely won’t have to buy them again if you choose wisely. All the other components while necessary, aren’t as critical to a good experience. Just stick to reputable brands and ratings and you’ll be just fine! Good luck and happy flying! 😀

I've built several of these and have never ecountered the issues you've expressed here. They're great as a "bando basher", but to be honest, I much prefer the Quadmula Siren F5 Split over the Apex. It's a nicer build, better frame resonance and can take a larger lipo. Appreciate the comprehensive review, mate. 👍
@propabilityfpv
@propabilityfpv Ай бұрын
I’ve now built two of them, same issues for both with varying degrees of severity. I think that says something about their QC if anything! I hear the siren f5 is great, I’d like to try one out at some point! Thanks for watching and commenting! 😃

And have it get caught in all sorts of branches and leaves? No thanks. Been down that road and it’s not worth it on a freestyle basher. If I want long range, I’ll build a long range quad.

To be fair, that map can be pretty challenging! Hopefully this drill helps build that understanding of your drone’s momentum! If not, you might also want to look into tiny whoops. They’re super sensitive to throttle changes and they kind of force you to learn it. Plus you can fly inside all year!
