Q. Why was this chemical allowed to be used as a wheat/grain pesticide if the EPA knew it was harmful? A. Big money overrules the public's health. Deregulated capitalism, thanks, Republicans!

I know the population rising, and they want to make the vegetables last longer, but this seems like pure evil ! We as Christians need to stand up to the world and his wicked standards! And let’s pray to God so he can help us overthrow the evil

Great talk. So much similarities with how drugs are approved in this country. I can’t say enough how important EWG work is important to this country.

Adding to my comment, the end of the talk got a little politicized unnecessarily. Both previous Republican and Democrat administrations are responsible for many of environmental issues we are dealing with today. It is not fair to say the Trump administration was and will be responsible for setbacks. This is a bipartisan issue. Look being that.

EWG’s message is very slanted, poorly misrepresents EPA’s independent, peer reviewed, multiple risk assessments. EPA works closely with independent toxicology experts in the US and regulatory authorities of other countries. EWG does not, nor does it have scientific expertise to support their claims. EPA does not ignore studies, rather carefully considers all glyphosate studies in the world; WHO did not. WHO considered only 7 cancer studies, EPA considered these plus 6 additional studies. Full disclosure, my career was with EPA. Read EPA’s assessment at epa.gov/pesticides

Subscribed. Kudos for a fantastic conversation. Perhaps because Richard's views are so close to my own, I was especially grateful to hear details of the RICO lawsuit from Missy Sims (and to learn about a few key documents I was unfamiliar with). And a special shoutout for the great questions and the way that they captured the current climate litigation landscape. My only wish is that the conversation had gone beyond litigation focused so exclusively on Big Oil. The media, elite research centers, even state attorneys general -- lawsuits there have a more straightforward discovery process, especially if you're going after the dark money trail. And expanding the focus beyond Big Oil gives climate activists more to work with, beyond simply pouring into the streets and protesting Big Oil. I'm more pessimistic than either guest. Recent Supreme Court decisions, the post-debate revelations about Biden's health and the health of the Democratic party, th prospect of a Trump presidency, I think the bottom has fallen out of the legal landscape, but that perhaps makes conversations like these all the more important.

Poisoning crops meant for consumption. Whether it be man or beast is chemical warfare. This practice will lead to famine and famine leads to disease. There won't be enough agricultural land left to sustain the populace. With only the rich being able to afford food.

30:50 yep, there's a book on this exact thing. The People's Republic of Walmart. Very good reflections on this industry. I'd quibble with agriculture being the "second" greatest contributor to climate change. Meat, dairy, eggs, and seafood externalities are almost never fully accounted for in most models. People discount methane due to its 'merely short-term' impact on climate, but name me the 20-year period when methane emissions go down.

28:29 this is a very important comment about the tastelessness of American food. I figure it’s due to the glyphosate, destroying the nutrients and microflora and calculating the minerals in the soil.

21:55 also very fascinating the connection that the two of you are making between monopoly’s supporting fascism, and also the desperation of improvers communities also ultimately supporting political fascism. So this monopolization process gives corporations, massive power, and wealth, which they use to support ultra right and fascist politicians, but the people in the community also look to ultra right and fascist politicians because they’re desperate for a definitive military style solution.

Why are tax payers keeping these people in office? EWG/panalists, is there no one in the state of CA not owned by PG&E or others? I don't understand how PG&E continues to exist in CA and how any of the CA administration, that did not meaningfully work to get rid of PG&E, are still holding office.
