Tip for target panic. Draw your bow back, anchor in, focus on your point of impact, center your pin, decompress the bow. You train you brain that you DONT have to take the shot every time. Which in turn trains you to only take good shots. I typically do this a few times a week. I’ll do 10/15 reps of this before I start shooting. Hope this helps

Description says "broadhead" but you are shooting all field points. Put a fixed 3 blade on there and you'll see a difference between those spines real quick. You won't see much drop from a 25 grain weight difference until 40-50 yards.

@hellbounddeciple24 күн бұрын
25 grains more on the tip will not show much at shorter distances. The big one is poundage and arrow length. If your on the line say 400-340 spine your better with the lighter weight if your 400 more if your 340. Balance of the arrow and stiffness are more important. been shooting for 30 plus years, came from heavy arrow with 125 grain tips as the norm. lighter arrow lighter tip isn't a bad thing (1 get you flatter flight). Heavy brush hunting you might want the little extra. Everyone will give you 1000 different reasons. Come to your conclusion and run with it
@SouthernDrawTN24 күн бұрын
I like this man, and yea the reason I wanted to do this is you can find what you want it feels like on this topic. There is no set in stone answer, I guess it's because so many variations of bow setups and arrow builds.
@timbow5024 күн бұрын
I’ve done trajectory tests with different weighted points to see what the drop is with heavier points. 100 v. 125. Same arrows. I shoot at a horizontal line of 1/2” wide blue painters tape on a white paper. Gives me more accurate feedback plus easier to see where the pin was when the shot broke. 62#’s @ 28”. IMO, to 30 yards the difference in poi for hunting purposes it doesn’t matter as it’s like 1 1/2” to 2”. Past thirty the difference begins to get wider. The important part is you gotta get the shot to break when the pin is on the blue tape to get any decent feedback.
@SouthernDrawTN24 күн бұрын
We are shooting about the same setup, i'm right at 61 @ 28. Crazy thing was, I didn't notice anything really until 40 and it was only about 2 inches. With my shooting (i'm still learning and practicing) 2inches is good enough lol. I'm going to try the blue painters tape idea on the next test I do with actual broadheads like @cmmc-zb1gw suggested. I think that's a good idea and a more accurate assessment. Just got to figure out which two I'm going to shoot. Would like to do a fixed 100vs125 and a mechanical 100vs125 just for hillbilly science purposes :P
@SuperDave-pe1zw24 күн бұрын
I would think it matters on what your front of center is ? If you need more weight up front go with the 125 head. I shot 340 gold tips that with broadhead weighed 400 grains with 100 gr tips. I had perfect arrow flight and perfect paper tear but I'm sure I could've shot 125s and would be good too. I don't shoot past 30 yards on deer and it was showing at 333 fps . But on bigger game i could see using a 125.
@SouthernDrawTN24 күн бұрын
Yea that is a good point, I should of done that again before doing this. i did it with all my arrows and broadheads a while back. I like the 100 because I only shoot 60 pounds with 28 inch draw, and believe it or not, 25 grains slows you down more than you'd think. I think like 10 fps from the last test I did if I remember correctly.
@SuperDave-pe1zw24 күн бұрын
@SouthernDrawTN in my opinion a 100 is plenty for your weight and draw length. I think you lose 1 to 2 fps for every 5 grains you add. So yes I believe you and that's why I shot as fast as I could because you don't always have time to range a deer and a few yards off on your estimated distance a faster arrow doesn't drop as bad. Speed kills in my book and I don't shoot at animals 70 yards away, I like them in bow range and I have many clean kills. Good luck 👍

Thank you and yea I agree, I think I'm going to do that next. Try one set of fixed 100 and 125 and one set of mechanicals at 100 and 125. I think it will show more of a difference because of drag but i guess we'll see. .

Like a 100 vs 125 of the same broadhead? Or two different ones?
@stainedarrowoutdoors425323 күн бұрын
I used to think that too but in the last few years becoming more knowledgeable about bow tuning and arrow tuning, most modern broadheads will fly almost identical as field points.
@SouthernDrawTN23 күн бұрын
@@stainedarrowoutdoors4253 Yea this bow is setup well still. Have had a broadhead on it that wont fly good yet, but we need to get out there where we went to test our shotguns with malachi and sling some at 70 yards or more. I'm pretty sure we will see some variation then.

@240gtrzАй бұрын
Nothing wrong with it at all but I want to help you understand WHY that fixed your target panic. Simply put, you’ve given your brain something else to focus on. You are consciously focused on drawing and coming to anchor a certain way. There is a risk of the gremlins returning once this method becomes muscle memory. Muscle memory just means it’s something we subconsciously do. If you speak your current process in your head every time and focus your conscious mind on the movements and the process you can keep those automatic target panic triggers at bay. Hope this helps man! Happy shooting!
