I get the furnace up to temperature and take a giant pry bar and pry each one up individually. If it’s creosote it can be helpful to dump diesel fuel down each exhaust tube and try to burn it out. I have also heard other dealers say that orange cleaner works to break down creosote as well, but haven’t had the chance to try it yet. If it’s ash, it’s usually only the bottom three inches that are plugged. A high tensile fencing wire run down the tube with a drill can loosen the ash plug a lot of times.
@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC

Afterward though you'd want to determine why they stuck in the first place. It's usually wet wood, a damper not opening, an ash clog (no airflow), or loading too much wood in warm weather. Getting to the source of the problem is important.

@@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC Not sure I agree that just because it's an open system it isn't a boiler adding the heat. Not all boilers make steam, and not all systems are closed loop. By definition a boiler is an appliance that heats water, not necessarily building pressure (of course this is a consequence in a closed loop, but not the sole purpose).

I've done quite a few pool heaters this way. They heat up at about 1/2 to 1 degree F per hour depending on pool size, flow rates, weather, etc. Reducing the flow rate on the pool side is not going to help it heat up better. The more flow you have the quicker the btu's will transfer. A couple of possibilities, you could have air trapped in the stove side of the pool heater. I don't know what size pump you have or what distance you're pumping from the stove, so there may be other issues also. I would need to know a bit of detail to start troubleshooting.
@Twindadx2_
@Twindadx2_ Жыл бұрын
@@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC Thanks for the quick reply. The boiler pump is on the back of the stove. So 60' into the house, goes thru a 70 plate heat exchanger that also heats the house water, then out to the pool about 100' away. So the boiler pump is circulating thru aprox 160' of 1" pex and the 70 plate heat exchanger before getting to the pool. I figured there was enough heat at the pool because you can barely touch the inlet side of the pool heat exchanger because it is so hot. You can also feel less heat on the outlet side so it appears to be transferring heat to the pool. Maybe I need to run a separate pump on the pool side of the heat exchanger

My MF 3000 is overheating. I checked the solenoid because it went bad last year causing overheating. It's not working again. However, the weird thing is that I wire tied the solenoid shut and the stove is still overheating. Also, the water level is showing full when it's getting hot and when it is cool. it seems like the water level increased even though no one added water - I'm assuming that's not possible as it's a closed system. The temps from the stove to the house are showing 15 degrees or so different with no water or heat running in the house. I feel like it normally shows 5 - 10 degrees different. I'm wondering if the pump is running slow, but has not stopped running completely. Is that possible? The gaskets do need to be replaced I think, but this overheating happened all of a sudden. They've been the same all winter. One other thing. If you could control this method of burning, the stove is far more efficient. It's been cold and windy today and the stove has stayed hot (in the 190's though set on 165) with only a few sticks of wood in it!? If it operated like that all the time I wouldn't have to burn nearly as much wood. Unfortunately it's not a controlled burn. I'll check and see if something is causing the air box flap to remain open tomorrow. I'm baffled. I'm especially baffled about the water level going up even though everyone says they did not add water. I have had the stove overheat before and have seen the water level go up, but it always goes back down a little once the stove cools off. Not this time... weird. In fact I could swear I noticed the water level was up before the stove ever overheated.

@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC
@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC 2 жыл бұрын
@@robn.7426 The other damper at the bottom is to control the total amount of air, but doesn't shut off tight enough to stop boiling. Leave it open. It is possible that the impeller on your pump is partially broken and isn't circulating water well. You could open and close the valve right above the pump and listen for the whoosh of the water going through. You could also close both valves and unbolt the pump and turn it over to see the impeller. The reason you're not burning much wood is because the weather is considerably warmer and so the house isn't pulling much heat off the stove. It is somewhat cold and windy but nothing like it was back in January. I would be pretty certain that you have an air leak somewhere, probably an ash pan gasket or firebox door gasket. It's hard to say for sure without going over it very carefully.
@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC
@YoderOutdoorFurnacesLLC 2 жыл бұрын
Also, I would remove the fan and check the flap in the airbox underneath, it's possible that there's a bit of grit under the flap that is holding it up slightly.
