As a mobie gaming startup cofounder I can confirm that generative AI is extremely useful in art production If you use it correctly, taking into account all laws and copyright compliance. We use it extensively and are able make a content-dependent game and still get wonderful graphics with tiny art team (2 guys basically). We've rushes from idea to alpha version in just a 2.5 months. But I can also confirm that it really hard to find money now, because we constantly receive responses to our inquiries to pre-seed funds that 'you need to show metrics, preferably Ret30, and even better ARPDAU. Then come back to us.' It seems that funds just place the pre-seed label in their About site section for no reason, but have completely forgotten what it means. 🙂

Love it. I think Roblox will still be here in 2034. What I'd like to consider is a thought exercise in where engines are going and how they might converge with AI to supercharge development for anyone, just as Steam revolutionised and democratised distribution. Also Discord tried game distribution back in 2018 with Nitro - not sure they're the future tbh!

Niko shouldn't be doing anything blockchain-related after rugging his customers with Blockstars. Ironic, this conversation. Funny how they keep turning off comments to cover it all up.

It sounded like Microsoft was considering a split platform with something more like the Steamdeck / Asus ROG? It feels like with the blending of the Xbox / PC market for them, and the success with the Switch etc. that considering something more powerful but still compatible - trying to set some more standardization through first party games for portable PC play in preparation for VR etc.
