We will see a huge jump in accidents if they do. I remember when Texas did away with the truck speed limit accident rates dropped. Does it limit damage to the truck but this doesn’t cure the idiots that get pissy because trucks being slow.

Hello increased transportation costs. I remember when truckers were by far the best & most courteous drivers on the road. Ridiculously low speed limiters have contributed to the modern day truck races where a Fedex that can only go 65 takes 4 miles to pass a Swift who can only go 64.75. All in a 75 zone. I want' trucks banned from using the passing lane for more than half a mile unless they're actually passing. I also want their limiters up to 80 or so to make passes happen reasonably well. With today's tech every one of them is GPSd and should be tracked. Those who abuse it can be easily caught and dealt with. I believe truckers would drive better if they were allowed to actually pilot the damn vehicle.

Honestly, it's about time. This is what happens when drivers that have been going too fast for decades finally get negative attention. The real solution is to have trucks on a separate one-lane highway (2 lanes for passing areas) with automatic systems for road-trains. Huge savings on fuel consumption, but wouldn't work in hilly terrain. But obviously not financially feasible. When I'm in my car and I want to go the speed limit or even 5-10 MPH over, I shouldn't have to worry about a massive truck with an angry 'professional' driver tailgating me and having to pass. Sometimes on the freeway in the 80 zones, I am going 90 MPH and barely passing them. The amount of damage a truck going 85 MPH vs 65 MPH in a crash is catastrophically higher. And yeah those huge car hauling trailers, the hot shot guys, they go way too fast too. In the end, everyone will benefit, as the roads will be safer, and people won't feel the need to speed just because of semi trucks. Tons of fuel will be saved, and it will have a more positive environmental impact than 1 million Prius'es. The only thing is this will have to be heavily enforced for it to work.

Sounds like fedex needs to hire more drivers, loads being late is on part due to management, if a driver can't make it to their destination with the new speed limiter, it's a management issue. Only time it's a driver issue is when they're literally not driving or intentionally driving slower than required.

within a few months of that rule fellow truck drivers that are jealous will begin to report you. Also once it becomes law BET there will be a very easy way to pop a device in to read the computer of your truck to make sure the system is operating and if its not and its your truck I'm sure they will make it a heavy fine and possibly jail time. . Not to mention if all trucks are governed to the same speed if you are even in a passing lane actually passing another truck on level ground any police within eyesight will know something's up. Your also not going to be able to just protest by driving next to another truck in the fast lane pretending to pass. truckers tried that when they lowered the speed limit to 55 back in 1974, didn't work out for them then and it was easier to get away with it no one had a cellphone to call state patrol and report ya like they do now. There is no way to beat this for any real length of time and come out ahead. I 100% get it time and miles are money, also get the government absolutely does not care .

Slower moving trucks on the highway creates the "LEFT LANE CLUSTERFUCK" where passenger vehicles travel only in the left lane, often cruising 1-3 mph faster than the right lane. On hills, it's an even more dangerous situation. Truckers will need to speak up on this to elected officials and be relentless about it if this regulation is going to be beat.

How about no. How about stop trying to impose additional regulation where none is needed. This move is not about safety. It is about forcibly slowing the economy down by forcing the movement of goods to be slower. It is about trying to get closer to that globalist goal of stopping the common people from having access to cheap goods and services. You will live in your 15 minute city. You will not have a car. You will not own a pissing thing. You will rent everything from an elite class. You will have nothing and be a slave and you will thank them for it. That is the goal.

My problem with the regulation is, where does it stop once it gets going. Meaning if we can make trucks ONLY go 60, then what would stop them from limiting the truck to 45. i choose 45 because at that speed the fuel mileage increase is the greatest. This is why regulations on things are bad, because it set a precedence for more regulations. Also 45 is safer then 60 and saves the most fuel. This is what will be implemented.

Not really for one thing your average speed is affected buy traffic not how much pedal you use . Using more pedal just means you use your brakes more furthermore fuel economy goes down exponentially buy a factor of 4 with every mile per hour over 55 . So what you actually do buy trying to drive fast everywhere is to greatly increase your fuel economy and maintenance costs without increasing your average speed while increasing your chances of being in a fatal collision . Slowing down will greatly reduce your operating costs without affecting your delivery times .

Speed is a factor when it comes to damage. But If a truck can't drive with traffic or safely pass a vehicle then it impedes traffic. Impeding traffic is more dangerous than speeding.
@jacobcarlson4010

By definition, having your vehicle exist in a given space at any time, will impede traffic in some way; regardless of speed. For example, running down a state highway, some coomer in a mustang is waiting to cross that highway; but he can’t, because a semi that’s running 75 is coming up. See how that works? Just by your vehicle existing, it’s going to impede someone.

I bet ya itll be in the shop more than on the road. Thats what hapkened with my 2022 Cascadia. A design flaw where when truck at a normal/low idle oil would t circulate through the rest of the engine. Truck jad to be set a high idle rpm just to keeo oil circulating. But the idle still went back down with every time it goes into e coast. That lack of oil circulation caused metal on metal damage. Truck broke down 5x in 10 minth and was brand new.
