I'm coming at you from 2024 and just picked up a used prime 2 controller. I was intrigued with the idea of the internal hard drive feature. So far, i would have to agree with you. Even still today. The standalone controllers are starting to be the industry standard now and it somewhat annoys me because i like to work from a bigger library than one off a usb. But that's just me. Workflow is where this suffers, like you said. I can work so much better on a laptop. But, i feel, that's because i'm used to it. I have a little Hercules controller from 2014 and I just can't let her go. Everyone wants me to upgrade but, it really does everything I want. My real issue with the engine dj system is the details. I tried to search for something on the controller the other day and i couldn't find the song unless I typed in the artist name as well. Not an issue with Virtual Dj. I also can make playlists so much easier on the laptop. The engine dj makes it complicated. The whole "prepare" folder doesn't make sense. And I've yet to understand or come across how to create a crate, or whether it's any different than a playlist. My last issue is mixing on the Prime 2. For some reason, i really can't hear the music from my headphones as clear as with my old controller. Plus, i really like having the auto gain feature on Virtual Dj. The idea of having to run your music through a 3rd party program to normalize is just more work. All in all, i feel like this controller makes you do too much rather than focus on the music, the most important thing for djs.

Thank you for the video! And to confirm, each device that is connecting to the UI (cell phones/tablets/laptops) all log into the UI using the same address (ie 192.168.102.2). And each device should use that in their web browser in order to update the 'More Me' distinctions?

During dinner, you say letting your playlist play frees you for "other things"...what do you mean by that? I've heard this before but I don't know what I should be doing during that time. I feel I don't want to bother the couple while they are eating. I like to be setup well before dinner. What else is there I should be doing other than watching the time?

Its a huge scam. The only reason I paid for it, was to get help to fix a restriction placed on my ad account they put on when my account was hacked. After getting access back to my accounts, the restriction for ads was still stuck on. I started paying for Meta Verification in January this year 10 months after trying to get help from the bot system. But now 4 months later, nothing has been fixed at all. No matter how obvious I make it, show them with screenshots the works. I may aswell be still dealing with a bot. Exactly one year to the date the restriction was placed, I finally got the notification the restriction was lifted. Yah I thought, but go to place ad's and no, its still there. Try over and over through the supposed human help your supposed to get, and still nowhere. Im now down to having to delete both my personal and business page, just to be able to reset everything without the ongoing restrictions that were supposedly lifted. I have lost count of the live chats/emails/ phone calls ive had with them to resolve a blatant issue that shouldn't have even happend. They have seen screenshots of the notification the restriction was removed and screenshots showing it's still on. Told to try this try that, but never goes any futher, it's supposedly been sent to the tech team about 5 times, but still nothing. Its one of the biggest cons if you are paying to get genuine human help for errors that are obvious and should be easy to rectify. To have to close my business page and start from scratch with followers is beyond upsetting, no wonder facebook has been pulled up for being part of why so many suicides happen. This is a 13month ongoing saga stopping me from growing a business by paying for ads. They allow scammers to keep scamming even after reporting. But block genuine people who have never done any wrong at all & won't even help them.

Thanks for another great vid Lou. I've been tinkering with recording with multiple cameras and using audio from the Ui16. I've always had issues with the recorded audio being very low in gain, but I don't see it in the Ui settings. Is it entirely dependent on the master fader?

How or where do you select and get Linked Tracks ?
@proverbialwhatever

It took me a while to find it - it's in the sidebar under the 'Remixes' tab (which I never used before). When you open the Remixes tab, there's the option menu you can click to select 'Show Tracks Linked to the Playing Song', which after you select it, it becomes 'Linked Tracks'.

The History part looks at songs played up to 5 songs before and after the song. It gives more weight to songs played directly after the song, and more weight to the songs you played more frequently around that song. So at the top of the list should be the most relevant results, further below would be more general ideas that probably fit the energy/style/... but may not be strongly related to the current track.

@bigdaz7272
@bigdaz7272 4 ай бұрын
Rekordbox "link" feature is a bit crap to be honest, you have to have both tracks loaded onto the Decks at the same time to link them, it would be way way way better if you could for example just highlight a bunch of tracks in your collection and then link them.
@djlouparis
@djlouparis 4 ай бұрын
@bigdaz7272 and that is essentially how VDJ works. You do still have to have a track loaded so it knows which one to connect to. But then you can drag one ore many into the linked side and all done. Def an improvement.

If your router is close to, or has bad wire shielding, it can cause issues to any wireless transmitter or receiver. Make sure there is some distance. Likely to be traced to your routers power source. Could be very leaky.

@@djlouparis i’m experiencing static in my speakers. It can last 20 seconds or even longer. Sometimes I have to turn or poor my connection from my laptop and replug it in order to get that stagnant sound out. I’ve heard on some KZfaq channel that, it happens when there’s irregularities in the electrical current through the system. I’ve done shows where that has happened, where I had to reset the system. It’s embarrassing, I feel like that shouldn’t happen to me. I’m trying to eliminate any possibility of my set going wrong. I hope you understand what I’m talking about. @@JuanYoungSr If you are experiencing poor power you can definitely have anomalies creep up like this. Is this happening at home? Gigs? Hey DJ Lou! Thanks for this video. I’m a single op as well, in sunny California. I have been with the Knot & Wedding Wire for many years now and this will be it for the last of 2023. I pay a little less than $300 a month and most of the referrals are dates I’m already booked on, bogus (about 9 a year), and lookie loos who reach out, but never respond back. This last year 2023, I think I booked maybe 8 referrals from them. I use to look at how many I booked vs what I was paying, but that went out the window long ago. I too am having the same problem you are having with defining my working area. I get referrals from them that are over 2-3 hours away from me. I try to book events no more than an hour from home. Curious, besides referrals from vendors and venues, how are you thinking of marketing your business? Thanks again for the video and information.

I’m glad you found some value in my videos. I will do some occasional PPC hyper targeted ads in my market. But by far my best sources is word of mouth. Venues, photographers, videographers, even other DJs. They make up well over 80% of my total lead sources. While PPC and maybe some select IG ads can help I’d really focus on the networks you have the most immediate influence in.

I am VERY curious how you did the axle. In particular, how you went about the shaft mounting to the profile. Did you tap the ends of the profile, thread in a bolt and cut off the head so that you could pound on those end caps? I'm trying to figure out the best way to to this exact same thing. I'd love to know how you got the result you did.
@djlouparis
@djlouparis 6 ай бұрын
I fretted for years on how to do this. But literally I just put in the axle at a trimmed length. Put the wheels on that has bearings on them already. And capped the axle. That’s it. I didn’t need to make anything else special for it to work. It would have been nice to have custom caps made to make it even cleaner. But the basic solution works perfectly.
