Thank you for watching! There very few western tourists in China. You will only find Chinese tourists across China and especially on trains. There is almost no one speaking English. Be prepared to use google translate on a daily basis. I was there in 2018. If you need more help feel free to reach out on instagram @hudekphoto.

There are tour operators in Kashgar that will arrange a day trip to the Karakoram Highway and the Lake. If you not a Chinese citizen you can not rent a car as far as I know.

Notice how no one responce when greeted with the Muslim greeting “Assalamu aleykum”. The concentration camp started in early 2017. The oppressive policies peaked around 2019. Even allasalamu aleykum, veeleykum asalam are considered the signs of Islamic extremism. That could have started in 2018 and people were being cautious. I am from Kashgar and the atmosphere in this video looks subdued. Normally the streets should be bustling with Uyghurs and tourists. The houses in the old town survived for centuries and we all know what is the quality of the modern Chinese constructions today. We witnessed how the buildings collapsed at the first sight of earthquake in Sichuan. The real reason is the real estate. They grabbed the prime real estate at the heart of the city to make room for the Chinese migrants, invaders, thiefs.
