That 830 is going to pass the 4020!

That 830 eeighs more yhan that 4029 does . If they would put 2 more wheelwrights on each rear wheel of that 4020 it would be pulling that plow faster than the 830 !

My ears hear an unstressed 2 cylinder at work and a happy Operator. Love both Tractors, progress I guess. 4020 sold well, looks good in 2023.

Probably too late to warn you! If you're a 4020 diesel operator you need to stop do something with those hydraulic hoses you are dragging.... THEN you can shift into the reccomended gear.

We pulled an 18 ft cultivator and our 830 was a better match than the 4020. The the 830 had a gear just right speed and power and the 4020 just didn’t have a gear in it’s sweet spot for that cultivator. 830 had better weight too. 4020 was great seeding tractor.

Doesn't sound like it's straining either one to me. Nothing runs like a Deere. I grew up with a little M and have been sold on John Deere's ever since. Ole' John got the job done and I loved the sound of it working. I have a 1974 year model 830 (3 cyl) and it's a lot lighter duty than this older one. It has enough power but not very good traction. When I use the 3 point to lift anything very heavy then I have to steer with the brakes since it doesn't take much to have the front tires in the air. I'm sure if it was weighted down front and rear it would solve both problems.

I remember are 4010 diésel never pulls like are 830 diésel and 4010 gets hot with the plow

The plow hooked to the 830 is that a 66H 5 bottom? 14 or 16 inch bottoms?

That ground looks awful hard must not been tilled for a long time Or had awful heavy equipment used on it

Love the old Deeres... So many times on this kind if video... when there's more than 1 tractor plowin'... they run too close to each other so the trailin' tractor is often changing speed to keep from runnin' into the lead one... Back off!!

A stock diesel 4020 comes direct from the factory rated at about 94 HP. With a power-shift transmission as opposed to the then more popular syncro-shift there is sometimes a 2-3 HP power loss. IF this tractor is rated at 145 HP it most definitely has a blower or supercharged engine, which it sounds like, the closer the tractor comes to the camera. Love to see a green tractor pull. . I could be wrong, but that 830 sounds like it is overloaded with that 5 bottom. He should have stayed with the 4. I agree with the one post that the 4020 should be doing better than that. What was the difference between the 820 & 830? Maybe a few more horses.

To bad they dond use colters and set them would pull easier

4020 could easily run another gear, or throttle up, I bet he's not even running 1200 rpm. that must be some pretty light, loose soil

Last week i got home from a long day at work and wanted nothing more than a large spoon full of hay, unfortunately the big-wigs up in washington were not going to provide for little old me. I ended up actually calling the "Chinese" and requesting a shipment of barley (hays cousin). took about 4 weeks but im finally full 😉

The guy in the 4020 I wouldn't pay by the hour to plow my field. He Could grab one more gear I believe.

I have plowed with a B 530 630 730 I owned two in the seventies never plowed with the 830 am almost 71 should be on my bucket list..

I pulled 6 16s in furrow with one dual, all loaded, propane injection. 830 is definately doing a job.

That 5 bottom is giving that 830 a work out

That 830 handles 5 bottoms better than the 4020.
