In the full video I'm editing I actually talk about how a snow mobile is one of the inspirations behind the design. The benefit of this is not needing speed for flotation

Probably a little of both. The boat is over 2 feet long and the bathtub is on the smaller end.

Hi do you have a website where you’r be able to sell me my design from a photo created into silicone molds? As the 3D item doesn’t exist so I can’t pop it into silicone and let it set and make it myself I physically don’t have it as a 3D scale only as a picture…

I do not, but I believe there are services on Fiverr that convert pictures to 3d models.

You left out the cut mold, with is one part mold with better accuracy than the other two. Open face is really a bad technique, you have no head pressure and the quality suffers a lot. The cut mold is the best option working with silicone.
@EngineeringAfterHours
@EngineeringAfterHours 23 күн бұрын
The head pressure of a cut mold is trivial. If you want pressure, get a pressure pot or inject. In this case the 2 part is nearly the same as a cut. It's just more controlled on the parting line. Lastly, open face is a great mold type. Proper mold selection is a function of your objectives. There is no single "best mold". Calling open face a "bad technique" is categorically wrong.
@sierraecho884
@sierraecho884 23 күн бұрын
@@EngineeringAfterHours You are right, open mold is a bad technique for quality parts, you can do it for chocolate or parts which you can sand flat later on so it will come with less prep but more rework. It is as always a trade off. Cut mold is best for most quality parts. Especially using very elastic silicone it does not make sense to create a two part mold if you can decrease flashing using a cut mold, and you can´t lose the two pieces it´s always just in one piece with better quality. Thank you.

You need to learn what gussets are.
@EngineeringAfterHours
@EngineeringAfterHours 3 ай бұрын
What failure mode from these videos do you think gussets have prevented?
@superbmediacontentcreator
@superbmediacontentcreator 3 ай бұрын
@@EngineeringAfterHours The gussets would prevent the front and rear frame collapse which is often seen as the wheels bend or fly off. This is important with square tube construction. I think round tube has a strength and weight advantage over square tube though you would need a bender and hole cutter to make good solid welds. I also see that the direct steering in most "boxes" is way too twitchy and needs a second linkage to reduce and buffer the steering input. Perhaps a gear reduction would be a good solution even if the wobbles happen. It also seems that bigger-diameter wheels/tires have an advantage over smaller ones. I love these races and would love to build a car with a team sometime.
@EngineeringAfterHours
@EngineeringAfterHours 3 ай бұрын
@superbmediacontentcreator that failure mode didn't happen in this case...so it wouldn't have been an improvement but it would have taken time that I didn't have. The frame is also deliberately designed to flex since there is no suspension I think you're over thinking the point of the redbull soapbox races. The car in this case had several failure points deliberately designed in because it was modeled after the crash scene from wolf of Wallstreet.

Wonder if floor designs where vortices are generated along the sides of the floor, starting in front of the floor, would work in maintaining some sort of floor sealing consistently. The way F1 does it these days. Also wondering about the math of the load necessary vs area vs fan suction

Try aiming the gas thruster at a 45 degree angle off the vertical from the mid chassis position. Forward thrust would be less but would result in greater downward force for traction and might reduce mass by eliminating the wheelie bar. my 2 cents worth.

If the chronograph isnt working then ya might consider trying that thing where they measure speed with a high speed camera and those black and white bars of known size behind the shot then math it out from there

But anyway, to be on topic to the video, have you explored unsprung aero? That should quickly solve your squatting problem, plus it lets you run softer suspension all around for better mechanical grip at low speeds. Also, RIP GT car body and aero. Thanks for the video on DRS.

>24fps >Filming a small, fast moving object **pukes** Please at least use 30. I can give you camera settings to make any frame rate for any type of shot on most cameras look amazing. The main thing you gotta do is ignore the 180-degree rule and instead select a shutter speed in the 1/40th to 1/60th of a second range, and set shutter priority mode if you use auto exposure. You may need to buy an ND filter in order to shoot outdoors in bright situations after locking down your shutter speed like this, in which case, if you only want to spend money on ONE, get an ND16 filter, but if you buy TWO get an ND8 and an ND32. Also, avoid decimal framerates (23.976/.98, 29.97, 59.94) and instead use full frame rates, or at least never get them mixed up in post without properly re-encoding decimal to full. Lastly, avoid non-intra-frame codecs and instead use only all-intra-frame codecs such as ProRes or if you use a Sony camera XAVC S-I not plain S or X. They preserve motion accuracy better AND edit faster/easier on your PC.
