RIP Roger Rees (May 5, 1944 - July 10, 2015), aged 71 And RIP John Spencer (December 20, 1946 - December 16, 2005), aged 58 You both will be remembered as legends.

He should have been addressed as Lord Needham, as the title comes from the estate, not his surname. Also, his Marquess title would outrank his Earldom.

I remember that episode. And his solution to the problem between India and Pakistan was for the USA to "buy them off." USA had to give them MONEY to bribe the countries not to go to war. That is pure left-wing, West-Wing, Aaron Sorkin belief system. Just throw money at the problem and kick the can down the road.

Another flaw in this episode. Barlett as a Catholic new testament would absolutely know the revelations quote. I beheld a pale horse etc.

I love this character. If I were President, he is the type of guy I'd want to work with. He's eccentric, but well connected, intelligent, has a sense of humor and gets stuff done. I'd cut him a lot of slack and give a lot of respect.

Jed Bartlet - Lord Marburry's friendship echoes real-life friendships between past leaders of US and UK - between Ronald Reagan & Margaret Thatcher, George W Bush and Tony Blair, etc. It reminds us all about the 'special relationship' between the two nations as well.

When we moved back from Sweden for the second time, some of what we had shipped was water damaged. I mean a waste basket with about 8" of water in it! (Soaking whatever we had put inside it.) There was only one thing that was missing, but much was destroyed. I can relate to the gut wrenching feeling you describe. As you say, a lesson in not storing up treasures on earth.

A truly wonderful talent. I pray Roger Rees found all the ways to fulfill all his hopes and dreams as both a professional actor and mere mortal, and during the worst of times when the lights would go dark, and only he could accept and make peace with. I remember him best from his stand-out moments on West Wing, among others. He had the special gift of making the lens his tool for all our own to enjoy, and repeatedly go back to. Rest in Peace, Roger Rees.
