It's what her mother Selune was about. A child of Shar would wrathfully slay a prone, defeated enemy like that. It's the difference between a Justice System with a death penalty and life sentences and another that puts forth sentences with the belief that criminals can experience redemption, and become better. Lorrokan was doomed like Minthara, due to the culture he was raised in. Also, what mortal doesn't fear death and at least sonetimes desire to be deathless. The part of her that is Selune understands SHE was Lorrokan's doom, had she not existed or he not know about her, he would have simply been another nasty Baldur's Gate Noble with Wizard gifts, who like Elminister prolonged his life for a long while, only to die eventually in perhaps a less brutal, hopeless way, vs a being far too powerful for any sane mortal to challenge.

Despite playing through this game and getting to this scene like a dozen times, I never realised the goblin that attacks didn't show any signs of being under the Absolutes control. Little details like that are why I love this game. Giving a little story to a character you never get to interact with shows how much love they put into the game
