Not exactly correct Fraser, blowtorches were from roman times too, never first timers from renaissance. but great video. Real reference in Naples, from Nobile Di Castroreale. Ask them and upgrade your information please.

Im always looking for accounts of earlier blow lamps as its entirely possible they were an earlier invention, but i have yet to find any solid account. i have found accounts of charcoal furnaces blown on with small blowpipes of the size necessary to work with a lamp going back to the first century ad. A quick look at the place in naples you mentioned turns up an artifact boiler from the region with soldered joints. I may be wrong, but Im guessing the suggestion here is that because the boiler has soldered joints it must have been soldered with a blow torch? if that is the case, soldered artifacts are very interesting, and i do think certain kinds of soldered joints can point to blow lamp use, but because there are multiple other documented ways to solder any given object its hard to use any given soldered artifact as proof of blow lamps

You learned the hidden manna is one ounce of raw gold you fire in a virgin kiln, and scrape from the ceiling? Then consume 2mg per day for 21 days while fasting, and consume the remaining hidden manna... and you've completed the last level of Alchemy. They left that information laying out for anyone to stumble upon?

Try pla fibers to help keep the clay from cracking. That’s standard with cement as well.

Thanks for this information. I'm currently using some wild clay on a friend's property. I'm experimenting with different amounts and types of temper such as charcoal, grog, and sand. I'm finding the clay difficult to work as it is prone to cracking while making and shaping slabs. I'll try this method on a small batch and see if it improves the workability. *Update* It works sooo well. While I still had trouble with slabs cracking as I tried to shape them the workability of the clay was greatly improved. I was able to make good pinch pots and coil built pieces with the clay after the starch was added. 👍

2:08 people were really fooled that this silver was now gold? Hmm
@fraserbuilds
@fraserbuilds 11 күн бұрын
some probably were, anyone with a touch stone wouldnt have been. however its not clear how much of this practice was meant to fool people as much as it was a method to paint metals different colors, especially metal statues which the egyptians liked to make highly colored and vibrant as part of temple rituals. Its also possible imitation gold jewelry was sold to people completely knowingly as a cheaper alternative to genuine gold, much like how we use gold or silver plated jewelry today

You should make an old school wood frame "turning" saw with the rope tension at the top. They are an easy woodworking project and actually work better for certain fine wood cutting because of the tension you can set on the blade. Would make for a cool build video! @fraserbuilds Hi Fraser! I thought you might enjoy this video. At about 10 minutes in, the man demonstrating the lamp mentions a venturi effect. Perhaps the angle of the nozzles must produce a vortex? Also, note the nozzle size. Thanks for your videos, they're so fascinating and inspiring! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kMWpdZNyurSoYmg.html
