Central vacuums have always facilitated me, unfortunately I have lived in rentals for the past 15 years with my parents. Not only that but I am disabled and live on a fixed income. The closest I’ll get to a central vac is my Kirby’s that I got cheap or free but that’s okay. Thank you for sharing your experience with a brand new accessory kit. @@nicko5945 i’ll explain more in my video when I show my OVO unit. I don’t live anywhere near a central vacuum installer. I found one of these early Maytag twin chambers in mint condition on Facebook marketplace for a whopping $45. It wasn’t just in mint condition, the machine was never used all that much. I see a lot of people that overprice these things while the machine is all beat up. I’d say Hoover got it just right with these twin chambers. It is more easier to clean the bin on these rather than having a big cyclone with screws. Blowing the filter out really is the best way to clean the crap out of it. I heard you can wash them, but I find that hard to believe since it is made out of paper. I find that the windtunnel technology works better on this machine rather than the newer t series machines. I also find the performance and the build quality to be better than the newer Hoover’s. That turbo brush is better than the newer ones. Putting some oil in the brushroll shaft and some in the fan bearing will make it spin very fast.

Correct: The world over, Dishwashing detergent that you use to hand wash as opposed to Dishwasher that is used in a machine must be neutral enough that if not rinsed thoroughly a person could be able to survive drinking from a glass of water with some detergent residue in it. It’s also neutral enough to be used as car washing liquid in a bucket for hand washing and as laundry detergent not in a washing machine but within reasonable amounts for hand washing. I have even at times run out of hand soap and used it a few times to shower with before running to work and then stopping to buy soap on my way home. It’s that safe. That’s how it saves baby ducks.

Question for anyone in the future who reads this.... the part that connects the hose to the canister.... is that like a really tight fit? Say, when you're pulling along... do you hear a hissing sound from the airflow? My epic 6500 does that and it's so annoying....

I enjoyed your thorough review and presentation. I bought the ocean blue version. I had owned the Homedics Brethe in the past which I loved, loved, loved, but I found the ocean blue model to be weak in comparison and didn't really work well for me even when using brethe aroma liquid scents. In the positive it was far quieter than the Homedics that i had years ago, but recently I found a Homedics Brethe on eBay in the similar globe form factor that I ordered to see if it performs any better.

It's so funny... back in the late 80s/90s inthe the early 2000s... I never paid attention to vacuums.... We always just had one of those cheap uprights from Hoover or Eureka that used paper bags and I just never gave vacuums much thought...I've always been a clean freak and I always remember dreading changing the bags or how difficult it was to find bags that were the right ones... But ever since around the mid 2000s.... I started being really picky about my vacuums... this really reminds me of the type of vacuums I used up until that point... I would take this vacuum over the most expensive luxury bagless vacuum because I hate bagless

If you still use this... get the UB8 belts..I remember watching a video of a guy getting a cirrus and he said he found that the pan ub8 belts worked better than the cirrus brand... and they fit.... I noticed when searching on Amazon many different companies make them... including filtrete ... I think the pack I got was a pack of 5 but I think they are genuine panasonic belts... not 100% sure... On the belts it just says PAN UB8 (but they work so much better than the cirrus branded belts.... I think I got them from an online vacuum shop... not amazon.... I was told to also keep them in the fridge as that will keep them from degrading while they're waiting to be used. I think my last belt lasted 2 years. No squeaking...With the Cirrus belts... I got that chirping sound on a couple of the belts....but since using these I never hear that sound

These are decent vacuums. Really. I have the CR 79.. I think I paid $379 for it in 2018... The HEPA bags don't leak....no dust in bag chamber... super easy to use... does a good job...no rattles. Goes through belts but they are easy to change. About once per year for me... maybe 2...don't pick it up by the handle. Even though I didn't...I still had to replace handle... that's it...I got the 3rd party 12 foot extension hose and tools with mine ... I wouldn't be without that being able to clean everywhere like you can with a canister by just connecting the extension hose to the wand... I'm not rough on things and I take care of them...but mine shows no signs of any degradation (other than the handle itself) that I had to replace. Operating costs are also great. HEPA bags, Belts, Filters are inexpensive.

Surprised how quiet the power nozzle is; I was expecting it to be a screamer like the supralite. They must have tuned down the RPMs since the canister suction probably takes care of most of the job. I wish the bag was a little bigger. I've come to prefer canisters in recent years but the bags are so much smaller and need to be replaced constantly if you have any pets. Something with a larger bag would be perfect.

I bought this exact model in September 2012, it's still going strong! I have been diligent with the oil changes and threw in a new spark plug a couple years back even though it didn't really need it. I use good gas and run some Stabil through it every now and again. It was around $385.00 if I recall, money well spent IMO. She runs like a champ. I did have a malfunction with the red rubber "emergency release" (it broke) a couple of years back, but I created a better harness anyway with a couple of Carabiners and some webbing and using the original shoulder harness. Hope you like yours as much as I like mine!

Here we are in 2024 now and I'm still in love with both the Healthy Home and Heavy Duty vacs. My place is two story and I have one upstairs and another downstairs, as it's kinda heavy to lug up and down stairs, plus wanted to extend the life of each. In addition, I have two spare vacuums and a broken one in the garage for parts, for a total of 5. I'm still using the original blue/grey model you reference weekly for upstairs vacuuming. I think it's from 2008 or 9. Downstairs, I use the black/yellow you show here. This series of vacuum has everything I want in a vacuum and think it would be hard to adapt to a different model. One trick I can pass along that's helped me is to periodically "back flush" the HEPA filter by removing it and using an air compressor with mid-level pressure to blow the opposite way of the air path. You'll see quite a bit of debris come out of it, be sure to do outdoors and I personally use an N95 3M mask as well. I've tried cleaning them with water, but once HEPA material gets wet, it's never quite the same and you risk tearing. The back flush method can really extend the life of the filter.
