Liked that you insulated the condensate line, however, I don't see a trap, float switch or secondary pan. Talk to me....
@brian2coolful19 сағат бұрын
The float switch is there , look good 3:50 , also here in south florida the drain line goes under ground and comes up outside .
@renenunez12543 сағат бұрын
@@brian2coolful Sorry, I missed the float switch. My system in the attic has a float switch on PRIMARY condensate line directly out of the coil, then a cleanout, followed by a trap and then a second cleanout and then runs outside through attic and a exterior wall and drops about a foot above the ground. The coil's secondary line runs into a secondary pan (under the unit) which also has a float switch and the secondary condensate line from this pan runs outside to the exterior soffit. I think I'm well protected from water damage or at least I hope so. Just a regular homeowner here in Texas.

👏🏽 Reminds me of a young me in the field in more ways than one. Glad to see you sized plenum transition to the opening and not the whole cabinet 👍🏽🍻. Just subscribed 🫡

No start collar no shiplap! Sorry, but that's wrong! You can't just make butt joints on duct board!
@brian2coolfulАй бұрын
I've nevee failed an inspection here doing it that way
@JustMe-mn5hkАй бұрын
@@brian2coolful but you're failing AHRI and the manufacturer every time! Just because you pass inspection doesn't mean it's right!
@brian2coolfulАй бұрын
What would have you done differently?
@JustMe-mn5hkАй бұрын
@@brian2coolful to start with if code doesn't require a flange around the top of the unit then I probably wouldn't worry about it either..lol.. but when I join duct board together I would cut a female shiplap on the existing duct board and a male shiplap on the new piece... also your corners should not be Butt jointed but also have a shiplap... with the air handler being on the interior I know it's not really a big deal.. but I'm in Florida and a lot of air handlers are in the garages and I can't begin to tell you the ones that sweat and leak air! Anyway it's good to see guys like you in the field... I've been in HVAC for 45 years fixing to retire and it's hard to find good replacement people! Keep doing what you do.. I didn't really mean to put you down! You certainly seem like you got a brain and you care.. that goes a long way! Stay safe and may your best days to be ahead of you!
@Topshelf7869 күн бұрын
I have done both techniques. Wouldn't the mastic on the inside take care of the butt joint leaks?

Nice job, I would give a optional service to clean and seal where the concrete is exposed in the return. Make sure you're using pressure treated lumber for anything that touches concrete.
@PlumberGuy-ez9wx2 ай бұрын
Ive been getting into hvac. I do hydronic heating and one thing I noticed thats different is the quality of work between the two. Hvac guys get away with not sealing any of their joints or just using tape. building plenums out of fiber board. Using flex but never supporting and stretching it properly. This is just what I see locally, you did some nice work here. Wish they did it that nice in my house.
