he was capitalizing on a weak return with a full on backhand hammer. He would have stopped and asked for a let if Crouin had been closer. cut the guy some slack. a warning would have sufficed. He doesnt seem like one to ignore safety warnings.

think the first one is a let, if not a stroke . watching the psa guys, the opponent hit a bad ball and it came back. she doesn't have to hit half volley

Given the shocking shot by the red shorts guy whilst his opponent was on the floor, he probably deserved to lose this point...

I’d like a different angle to see how tight the first is but I think that is a let and the 2nd is a stroke

It is always dangerous to run from behind closely to the front and to the right of the opponent when the opponent needs to swing and follow through. The returning player takes this risk - no let. It's not a stroke as it was a good return and he was stepping away.

Over zealous ref, it's too close to call and not worth stopping play, and 3 was not a foot fault, her foot was clearly in the box on contact with the ball.

touching the wall is fault?? what's that all about? Never heard that before.
@dereksawle
@dereksawle 21 күн бұрын
I can understand why the ref called no let, it did seem that player 2 made no real effort to run around player 1 AND instead chose to push player 1 to make it seem he was obstructed. Player 1 did a good return down the wall and was stepping away as he should, definitely not a stroke.

years ago we used to call that 'turning on the ball' and it was considered unsportsmanlike, and arguably dangerous.

Firstly, an opponent should not expect a direct route to the ball. Secondly, the opponent must be in a position to not only play the ball, but arguably be able to play a winner had he not been hindered, to be awarded a stroke. The opponent was lucky to be awarded a let, as the ref may have taken the view that he didn't make sufficient effort to get to the ball.

Couple of other clips shows similar bad movement from striker after playing the ball. Effectively moving straight back into the players line, creating a blocking situation. The palms up and look of either bewilderment or innocence gets me everytime, too funny.

The rot started in the first 3 points. Daniel clearly was making little attempt to play the ball from the outset (appealing for minimal swing interference that in my grade would be a no let) and he was consistently rewarded with cheap strokes. Nasser wanted to play and have an actual match and the ref didn’t want to make Daniel do the same. Adding insult to injury was the ridiculous claim of blocking and conduct warning when Daniel took a stupid line from the back right to a ball in the back left of the court via the T. Nasser tried to clear based on the line that Daniel should have taken and was told off for his opponents poor choices.

Just to add to that, the referee’s call in the second game of stroke + conduct stroke is so far out of touch with reality it’s not even funny and shows Daniel that this will continue to be rewarded. Daniel is behind Nasser who plays a crosscourt to the same side Daniel is already on. Daniel then dives away from the ball into Nasser’s legs and somehow comes out two points ahead for a rugby tackle.

If the ball was always going to the side wall (right where the non-striker was standing), could be argued that the striker was aiming for the non-striker, in which case this would be dangerous and reckless play and CS could be awarded. Alternatively, it could be argued the non-striker moved before striker had finished playing his shot, effectively creating the situation where he would get hit and therefore contributing to dangerous play situation, - in which case YL (because tracectory of the ball was to the side wall), - and a caution to both players regarding player safety.

I look at it as, if Dussourd were not there, then Mueller would've made the shot. Dussourd needs to clear the line to the ball. He actually moved back into Mueller's path. Should have been a stroke.

Like come in the first he could've easily gone round the back of him instead of running into cause the ball was pretty much going to the back of the court anyways so just go round the back and call a let the there.
