With Solo Wing's defection, there's more to it. He becomes disillusioned with the alliance with Osea after witnessing the indiscriminate bombing of Hoffnung. He had a 'Are we the baddies' moment seeing bombers level civilian targets. He says a couple of things hinting to this through the next couple of missions before the nukes drop, then nopes out in the confusion when they do. Hoffnung was the inciting moment, the nukes were just the set piece to kick it off.

Worth mentioning that MGS Portable Ops PLUS is also a fun semi-follow up to this game. With the story removed, but a bunch of missions added, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through it several times offline and will be returning to play it again. As for this game, I was very pleasantly surprised when it was released. Given the limitations of the PSP (compared to consoles), I would say the developers did a great job! And I personally didn't even notice that the framerate was below 30fps; I just enjoyed the game and didn't focus on the technical aspects of it.

MGS4 was the first Metal Gear game I ever played, and though I recognize the overabundance of exposition, I still loved it and basically made me a fan of the franchise that encouraged me to devour all of its lore.

100 hours in this game and I still haven't bothered playing with the camera in it's original form

I play a version of MGS The Twin Snakes that has the original PS1 soundtrack modded in, and it really does make the game more fun, I also use an HD Texture Pack which makes the game feel more modern and in the original version also had a chance to have a rat eat the pal card, they also added where you could change the card closer to the end area where there are some pipes to the side of REX instead of having to backtrack to the hot room and cold rooms

Ace Combat 5 had you fly the starter aircraft for multiple missions due to you not being the leader of Wardog Squadron yet. They did that solely cause once Bartlett is shot down and Nagase ultimately hands control over to Blaze, that is when you are leader and get to choose your squads planes. It would have been weird if they let you choose your squads planes when you start Ace Combat 5 as basically a rookie pilot and don't get to call the shots.

Not sure if you said this but one the faction is friendly and the PMCs are hostile.

In 2004 and likely earlier than that (F-35 series had their maiden flight in 2006, and have only started entering service in 2015 and onwards + C variant in particular only came to US Navy in 2019 and sees no service in other countries as of now)

i played nothing but this for a while back im the golden days of the psp.. the multiplayer was really fun, you could capture each other and steal characters from other players and there were a few pretty powerful rare ones. you use the units captured from the main story and missions.. very unique game.

I'm not sure to say if it was Kojima actually liked reusing set pieces, or if it was his attempt to try to make the game he originally wanted to in the first place. If you look at the mechanics of MG1, it was obviously a travesty of what anyone would intend for a great game. MG2 was better, but still heavily limited by a 2D top down view. I always hear Kojima didn't want to make anything beyond MGS1, and that's why MGS2 pulls the Raiden rickroll. But Kojima needed to stop trying to recreate his exact original plan, which we very clearly got finally in MGS3.

mgs4 imo is that one game in the series that looks absolutely amazing on first playthrough, but gets dumber the more you replay it(as opposed to 1-3, which get better each time). So many good ideas left to waste: 1) over 70+ unique weapons in the entire game, even though you really have no reason to use more than 5. and how many people actually did use the MK II? 2) beautiful and entertaining plot, but you realize it's mostly fan service, tying up loose ends and just answering questions no one was asking from second playthrough onwards. Someone please tell me that Vamp didn't work way better as an undead Vampire than a regular dude that had regenerating nanomachines, or that liquid ocelot somehow being actually ocelot tricking himself into playing a role as liquid makes sense? 3) having 60% of the game be made up of cutscenes just gets old once you know what's going to happen. MGS4 goes overboard with that, even by MGS standards. It's still a solid game, and the online mode(still playable in fanmade servers) is probably my favourite online game of all time. But it just doesn't hold a candle to MGS1-3(even though it's still better than both 5 and PW).

I keep being unsure if I should play older games like the Metal Gear or LoZ series. Mainly because I'm not that used to the graphics or layouts, and having a huge backlog of games
