@TheConstantAngler17 күн бұрын
@@OneAndOnlyChi it’s not the best with lightest of lures. Try to keep your casting smooth. You can upgrade the brakes by adding a couple of N52 Neodymium magnets of the correct size. Get the thinnest you can

It doesn’t look much but there is enough there. With BFS you need to flick your wrist on the backstroke then push rather than snap on the forward stroke. This is a larger BFS reel so when casting lures below 3gr it is not ideal. If your regularly casting above these weights it could be beneficial to add a couple more magnets. It’s easy to do if you buy the correct 4mm x 0.5mm N52 magnets as you can just place however many you need on top of the original magnets thereby customising it to your needs. I have done this with both the Commando and Acura as I felt they were slightly underbraked. The Commando is effectively the same reel.

Apart from a second hand 123M I've never owned a Daiwa reel until recently. I've just got the EM4000LT which seems OK but not been used yet.Still not sure of the need for 10kg of drag though. The bearing numbers are just a gimmick at times. When you get up to a dozen it seems to me they're hiding shoddy engineering. The old Mitchell 300 managed for years with plain bearings.

You could but I think you may loose some of the hooking ability. It is possible to pull the hook back out somewhat and push it back in at a different angle to make it more weedless. Some of the hook shank will be exposed on the belly but it works effectively

Fantastic video showing how you use you rod and drag to play the fish. I think in Australia the rig naming is a little different. A paternoster rig we use a dropper knot to hold the hooks and is non adjustable. It looks like you have a running sinker rig with float stoppers either side to set sinker position, a nice idea. I love the way you fish and its exactly how i fish. You have a light drag set and play the fish out in the fight. I hate seeing people with locked drag and skull drag fish in. We see a lot of fish dropped from hook pulls when they try to skull drag them in. You never know how good your hook set is on a fish, if its lightly in the outside lip skin its very easy to tare this skin and drop the fish.

What would you say is the max weight lure you can throw?
@TheConstantAnglerАй бұрын
I would say 15gr. It’s not that the reel will not throw higher but it’s whether the shallow spool will take it. You may have to use more end tension to throw heavier lures as the brakes might not cope. It did cope with 12gr though so it will go higher.
@Side85WinderАй бұрын
We have a "running sinker clip" you could use on a rig like that for your sinker. Its a T bit of plastic with a easy quick clip. You could use the rig is the same and attach the sinker to the sinker clip so its interchangeable 👍.
