In this video i let you know the good and the bad. What could be done to improve the rod, its limitations: no use for surface bait fishing or targeting bigger fish as too soft a tip to set the hooks and not enough eyes. The action confused me, its fast but at the same time being semi parabolic??? It's appears to be a well made blank and not fragile ,but I would say it is best for catching small fish wether you are Ajing or trout fishing smaller lures in larger streams, rivers or lakes. It would do as a backup Trout rod if you cant afford one as it will cast light lures or for catching small Perch etc, but it is not ideal as if using small crankbaits and Jerkbaits the tip will need to be worked very vigorously to impart some action and your hooks will need to be sticky sharp to set them. Once the fish is hook the soft tip helps keep fish on as it absorbs their lunges. It will cast heavier lures but is not ideal for this or any bottom contact fishing as the tip is too soft. Although I have heard of it catching reasonable sized Carp I wouldn't recommend it for larger fish.

On my very first outing with the Plume, I caught a 3.2 pound largemouth that wrapped my line around a wooden post, then swam under the platform I was standing on and tangled my line around some small branches. Yet the rod handled it all without a hiccup and I finally brought the fish in. For all its lightness and the very small diameter of the solid tip, this is not a fragile rod!

My pleasure mate. Excellent blank but not enough eyes really. Should cope fine with UL BFS. It’s a shame as the spinning version has more eyes

Have one on the way hopefully in the next week or so. I was curious if you have ever tried the tactical angler clips instead of a snap swivel for quick changing your lures

I have done for heavier work and do like them. To be fair the one I was using was a bit big for what I was doing.

Honestly that looks like they could sale that rod for $200. Slap a Daiwa or Shimano logo on it and change the reel seat and it would fly off the shelf.

It doesn’t look quite so good in reality. It’s a fantastic blank with a cheap reel seat and lacking a couple of eyes but it does the job with small fish well

I live in the US and primarily fish for largemouth and smallmouth bass. My normal catches are in the 1-3lb range (roughly 0.5-1.5kg). Do you think this rod is too soft to fit my needs?

I think it will handle fish this size but the tip is very fine and there are probably rods better suited to it. Thank blank has a lot of power though. The tip would fold if using it for anything but the lightest of bottom contact lures. It’s more suited to fishing small jig heads up in the water. I’d be going for something with a hollow tip rather than a solid tip.

It appears it is a robust blank and people are using it for Bass with confidence.
